A blessing in disguise, or not.

You're still alive? Your family wasn't killed? You still have a job and the local churches/shelter are giving you a place to stay to help you get back on your feet?

Yeah, I'd have to agree with this. And beyond that, it makes for a good conversational piece.

I mean, when I had a semi-truck hit my house, I made an art project out of it.

No-one was injured and the delivery company paid for upgrades to the house. The downside? I wound up failing aforementioned art class since they were experimenting with "standards" for grades and I had an assignment on my computer I couldn't reach for the last few weeks of the semester. Oh, and it did plow right through the gas line, but fortunately covered it at the same time without creating sparks. So, I guess that whole "it could have been worse" thing definitely applies since it could have blown up the entire neighborhood. I was also told that if it didn't hit that support beam, that it wouldn't have stopped and demolished the entire place.

Lesson learned kiddies, make sure to turn your tires the way they taught you at driving school for hills or pomegranate like this happens.
