I agree with just about everything else Jamie said, but I will say that its not impossible to dual boot XP by installing it second. My current laptop is running a pre installed win7, and after MANY headaches (largely due to brute forcing trial and error) I figured out how to get XP on and dual booting properly. So it can be done, but as Jamie said, its a headache, and there are many things you need to set up prior to thinking about attempting.
