The New Class Thread
#4
I had an idea for a Musician class.
Artist > Musician > Minstrel > Guitarist > Rock Star
Artist > Musician > Singer > Choralist > Pop Star

Like Pirates, they use different stats between classes. Guitarists use DEX primarily and INT secondarily. Singers use INT primarily and DEX secondarily.

Singers would use Mics and Guitarists would obviously use guitars.

Musician skills are nothing special. You get that clichéd "Guitar Slam" attack, which is powerful but short ranged, and you also gain a whistle skill. It deals meager damage but has a larger range. There is a Combat Step type skill and a skill that increases something. I don't know. MP?

Your fifth skill is one that lets you assemble notes. It's your most important one, like Aran's Combo Ability or a Wild Hunter's Jaguar.

As a singer, you can hit several weak notes. Notes appear on the side of your screen and fade away if you don't follow them up. If you chain them properly, then you'd create a song, which affects all the monsters hit by the first note. Some songs deal explosive damage, others inflict status effects (Darkness, Stun, Freeze, Burn, Poison).

Because you're a sitting duck while singing, a Choralist gains evasion and mobility skills. These are dance steps. If you master your dance routine, the accompanying songs will be more effective. You also gain skills that increase the damage of your notes and the duration of your songs' effects.

As a Pop Star, you gain even more skills, but they are explosive special effects. These are party buffs. Like Combat Orders, they don't do much on their own but they amplify the effects of other Party Buffs.

Guitarists are all about damage. In your second job advancement you gain notes, but you're aiming for songs that deal elemental damage. Ice, Poison, Fire, Thunder, Holy and Darkness. I am not sure if Darkness is an element.

In 3rd Job, you assemble a band. These are summons you supplement your notes by supplying appropriate background music. You can summon a bassist, a pianist, a drummer, and what not.

As a Rock Star, your special effects give your songs massive range and you also get an entourage, you give you personal buffs. In a way, you create party members.

The songs are randomized for each individual character. When you create a special one it gets stored in a special UI.

What happens if you get a Singer and a Guitarist in the same party?
