The New Class Thread - TheThunderBandit - 2010-12-31 Hello and welcome! In this thread I will describe a whole bunch of classes I have come up with. SSSOOO lets get started shall we? Legends - The elemental bowman, ???? - Archer legend I already made a thread about him/her here is a link to that if you have not read it. http://www.southperry.net/showthread.php?t=36129 Here is a quick recap: The archer legend enchants his/her bow with the power of the elements(like WKs and Paladins do). Over the course of his/her 4 jobs they would get the elemental powers of fire, ice, lightning, poison, darkness, and holy. The elements would be split into two groups, type 1 elements and type 2 elements. Type 1 elements would be for single monster hitting attacks(like strafe, snipe, ETC.), and type 2s would be for mob skills(Arrow blow, Arrow Rain, ETC.). Therefore you could have one of each element charged at a time. Sample skills: Arc Arrow: Fires one arrow in an arc that leaves and cloud of type 2 elemental dust in its wake. Basically you fire an arrow in an arc and in that arc a cloud of fire, ice, or poison is spawned and does DoT damage for anything in that cloud. Chain Arrow: Fires and arrow embedded with the power of a type 1 element at a monster. If the arrow hits the monster(meaning the skill fails if the first hit misses) the arrow will fly and hit another monster. This is basically chain lightning with arrows and a different element. ????, the flying assassin - Thief legend The thief legend was an acrobat in a traveling circus long ago before the Black Mage attacked. When it came time to rise up and fight the BM, he learned how to mix his acrobatic skills with the skills of an assassin. The thief legend works like sins and bowman did before BB, if monsters are too close to him/her he will just punch them doing like 1 - 5 damage. Their is a way to get around this, not only does he have a few KB skills his main gimmick is aeriel chains. Most(not all but most) of his skills only work in the air. Sample Skills: Spin: Spins around in a circle on the ground and does damage and knocks back(KB) up to 6 monsters. That's simple right? Spinning and knocking back? Do I need to explain that? Downward throw: While in the air throw two stars down to the ground. Its lucky 7 in air. Also you don't trow the stars straight down, it homes in on a monster on the ground, within a certain distance. Trapeze: While in the air swing forward on a trapeze. This is basically flash jump with one bonus.... You can use it after a move. So you jump, use downward throw, swing of on your trapeze, then use downward throw again. Also it does not move you as far as FJ does. Back Swing: Allows you to swing backward on you trapeze after an aeriel attack. Lets go back to that chain I just started... You jump, use downward throw, swing of on your trapeze, then use downward throw again. After you use DWT again you can swing back on your trapeze and use DWT AGAIN. ????, the drunken pirate - Pirate legend This one is KINDA dark for MS but you know its not all that bad. ???? was a proud and noble brawler who hated to lose before the BM attacked. He and his crew sailed the seven maple seas and what not. When the BM attacked however it was time for him to jump into action. He was frozen in ice like the other legends, 100 years pass and he wakes up on a half melted glacier on florina beach and he has lost all his skills :*(. He goes along learning back some of his skills learning about the new maple world. But one day he learns of how the legends did not defeat the BM and he has returned. This angers him greatly and he becomes a drunk and violent man, who really doesn't care about his manners and stuff. Eventually he realizes that no one and defeat the black mage and he joins the black wings(not like Evan did, like he knows what hes doing and enjoys screwing over the maple world). Eventually he fights Aran(who remembers ????, also they were friends) and that snaps him back to his senses. As you can probably tell I have put a lot off thought into his story. If anyone who reads this has played DFO he would be a lot like a brawler in that game. He throws nets to trap monsters then beats them. He even has a skill where he picks up a hurt monster and uses it as a weapon against other monsters. Sample skills: Brick Punch: Punches a monster while holding a brick and then throws the brick at the monster. Simple enough. Any questions? Grappling Hook: Uses a grappling hook to pull a monster close then punch multiples times. This is similar to CoH, but this skill only hits a monster three times. One when the monster gets hit by the grappling hook. Then it gets punched twice. Grab Monster: Grabs a monster and uses it to attack other monsters. This skill works like any other catching skill, get the monster to half health, catch. Then when you have hold of a monster you use the normal attack button to hit other monsters. Dark Transform: Transforms into a dark version of yourself. Like a normal brawlers transform EXCEPT A FEW THINGS!! 1. You are purple instead of blue/orange. 2. you grow claws(like wolverine). Transform Booster: Boosts the power of Dark Transform. Since ???? does not have a version of super transform this skill gives Dark Transform a power boost. DONE! Right? I don't have anymore ideas right? ... RIGHT?!?!? Adventurers - What? More Adventurers? How could there possibly be more adventurers? Well I will tell you! 3 or the 5 types of adventurers have 3 jobs and 2 have 2 jobs. I think they all should be equal. Riflemen - Bowman 3rd branch What? Rifles? Wouldn't that be more pirate type of thing? Maybe but not the way I see it. It would be less rifles and more like bowguns. So this is how there job progression would go Archers -> Bowgunman -> Riflemen -> Spitfire. Riflemen would like WHs w/o the jaguar and all those close range skills. They can move while shooting. They are SUPER FAST, LIKE CRAZY FAST, BUT they are low on power. Also there element would be lightning Sample skills: Knockback Arrow: Fires and arrow into a monster which causes him to slide back harming other monsters. This is there 2nd job mob skill, like bomb arrow and iron arrow. Thunderstorm: Fire an arrow charged with lightning to damage up to 6 monsters. Its like inferno and blizzard. Not much explaining to do here. Thunderbird: Summons a Thunderbird to attack monsters. Its like frost prey and that other bowman bird. SIMPLE STUFF! Sonic Boom: fires a..... pomegranate load of arrows at the enemy. A spitfires signature move, like hurricane or snipe. DemoMan - Pirate 3rd branch Hmmmm I wonder what this class could use for a weapon.... Oh I know BOMBS! This class is yours my friend.... as long as you have enough mesos. Sorry I had to! Job advancement goes like this Pirate -> Bomb Expert -> ????? -> DemoMan. I am not sure what weapon they would use maybe no weapon and they just trow grenades? When I say grenades I don't mean like that one crappy skill Gunslingers have, they have skills like.... Sample skills: Bomb Roll: Rolls a bomb on the ground. Explodes when touched by a monster or wall. When I say bomb I mean a bomb like the ones for old roadrunner cartoons. The black ball ones with the fuses sticking out. Sticky Bomb: Throws a bomb that sticks to the first monster it comes in contact with. Play Call of Duty? Its a Semtex. Done and done. OK DONE! For reals this time! I hope you enjoyed and if you have any comments, questions, concerns, death threats please get back to me. The New Class Thread - Zelkova - 2010-12-31 ;~; i feel like im at basilmarket. The New Class Thread - TheThunderBandit - 2010-12-31 Zelkova Wrote:;~; i feel like im at basilmarket. lol Is this something they do.... THERE? I almost never go...... THERE. The New Class Thread - McAwesomesauce - 2011-01-01 I had an idea for a Musician class. Artist > Musician > Minstrel > Guitarist > Rock Star Artist > Musician > Singer > Choralist > Pop Star Like Pirates, they use different stats between classes. Guitarists use DEX primarily and INT secondarily. Singers use INT primarily and DEX secondarily. Singers would use Mics and Guitarists would obviously use guitars. Musician skills are nothing special. You get that clichéd "Guitar Slam" attack, which is powerful but short ranged, and you also gain a whistle skill. It deals meager damage but has a larger range. There is a Combat Step type skill and a skill that increases something. I don't know. MP? Your fifth skill is one that lets you assemble notes. It's your most important one, like Aran's Combo Ability or a Wild Hunter's Jaguar. As a singer, you can hit several weak notes. Notes appear on the side of your screen and fade away if you don't follow them up. If you chain them properly, then you'd create a song, which affects all the monsters hit by the first note. Some songs deal explosive damage, others inflict status effects (Darkness, Stun, Freeze, Burn, Poison). Because you're a sitting duck while singing, a Choralist gains evasion and mobility skills. These are dance steps. If you master your dance routine, the accompanying songs will be more effective. You also gain skills that increase the damage of your notes and the duration of your songs' effects. As a Pop Star, you gain even more skills, but they are explosive special effects. These are party buffs. Like Combat Orders, they don't do much on their own but they amplify the effects of other Party Buffs. Guitarists are all about damage. In your second job advancement you gain notes, but you're aiming for songs that deal elemental damage. Ice, Poison, Fire, Thunder, Holy and Darkness. I am not sure if Darkness is an element. In 3rd Job, you assemble a band. These are summons you supplement your notes by supplying appropriate background music. You can summon a bassist, a pianist, a drummer, and what not. As a Rock Star, your special effects give your songs massive range and you also get an entourage, you give you personal buffs. In a way, you create party members. The songs are randomized for each individual character. When you create a special one it gets stored in a special UI. What happens if you get a Singer and a Guitarist in the same party? The New Class Thread - TheThunderBandit - 2011-01-01 @^ Thats a pretty good idea! You could maybe make it like a DDR type thing using the BGM. I once had an idea for a chef class but I don't remember any of his skills or anything. The New Class Thread - Miek - 2011-01-01 McAwesomesauce Wrote:I had an idea for a Musician class. that's so cool! lol The New Class Thread - Alloy - 2011-01-03 TheThunderBandit Wrote:lol Is this something they do.... THERE? I almost never go...... THERE. I think it's because of how silly Ariel sounds. Yes, it's aerial, if anything. The New Class Thread - TheThunderBandit - 2011-01-03 *facepalm* I suck at spelling. Fixed thanks for pointing that out... The New Class Thread - Alilatias - 2011-01-03 Very fun concepts, but that thief one is going to be crippled against mobs that know how to cast Weaken. Then again, not many know how to do that. Still, very neat. I have one idea for the Archer Legend. Archer Legend: A reference to the legendary Albatross/Eagle Eye figure in the Wind Archer skillset. She is the master of wind and lightning, and has quite a variety of support skills and a few offensive skills that are dependant on the terrain. Her unique ability involves transforming her bow into twin blades of lightning for melee strikes if necessary. As such, she can switch between two attack stances (both of which are skills that will be maxed in the 'beginner' stage): - Sight Stance: The standard archery mode, used for ranged attacks. At max level, it grants Speed +18, Jump +9, Critical Hit Rate +45%, +9% Weapon Attack, and 30% bonus damage against flying enemies/targets tossed into the air. - Strike Stance: The standard 'twin blade' mode, used for melee attacks. At max level, it grants Speed +27, Jump +15, Critical Hit Rate +30%, Duration of Status Effects -3 Seconds, and +15% Lightning Damage. - Third 'Beginner' Skill: Arrows of Air: Summons unlimited arrows from the air around you. Duration: 210 seconds. Because her skills will be dependant on which stance she is in, an option to switch between two different keyboard settings should be made available to everyone beforehand. The Archer Legend's keyboard settings will automatically change when she changes stances (and having her use two different settings would be required). For everyone else, they'd have to press an assigned button to switch keyboard settings (which isn't actually too different from pressing an assigned stance button, main difference is that it's optional in this case). Notice how her third 'Beginner Skill' is essentially her Soul Arrow, a skill that already affects bows. Because the Archer Legend will be ideally using bows for the rest of the game, I don't see the point of giving the standard melee weapon tutorial to her. The tutorial should simply focus on use of her stance skills instead, and give her a bow at the beginning. First Job: - Storm Mastery: 50% Mastery, +120 Accuracy. (Sight Stance skills) - Repulsing Current: Launches a 150% damage arrow with a wind current that stuns and pushes up to 4 enemies away with a range of 250. - Twin Bolts: Lightning strikes twice, inflicting 2 hits of 80% lightning damage on up to 4 enemies. (Strike Stance skills) - Bolt Dash: The Archer dashes ahead and strikes up to 4 enemies for 70% damage with stunning lightning, followed by forceful wind that pushes them back. (Essentially a Rush that stuns. First hit is Lightning element, second hit is neutral.) - Quad Strike: Strikes an unlucky enemy 4 times for 60% damage. --- Second Job: - Renewal Breeze: Every 4 seconds, the HP and MP of all party members recovers by 15%. Duration: 200 seconds. - Storm Booster: Weapon Speed -2. Duration: 200 seconds. - Storm Current: All attacks are converted to Lightning element and add +10% Lightning Damage. Duration: 200 seconds. (Sight Stance skills) - Thunderstorm: Fires an arrow infused with lightning to strike up to 6 enemies for 330% Lightning damage. (Basically a Lightning Inferno/Blizzard without a secondary effect.) - Tri-Bolt: Fires an arrow that strikes a single enemy with three bolts of lightning for 125% Lightning damage. (Strike Stance skills) - Drawing Current: Summons a wind that draws up to 4 enemies within a range of 400 closer to the Archer (gathering them up about 20 pixels away from the Archer), then strikes for 250% damage. - Arc Slash: Charges like a bolt of lightning, striking up to 6 enemies twice for 150% Lightning damage. (Basically a weaker Boomerang Step, except there must be enemies in front for this skill to be used.) --- Third Job: - Resist Flow: A strong wind flows in to shoulder the burden inflicted on party members, reducing the duration of status effects by 50%. Duration: 200 seconds. Cooldown: 300 seconds. - Storm Shelter: When party members duck, the wind rushes in to protect them, reducing damage taken by 30%. Duration: 200 seconds. (When this skill is cast, the effect is passively tied to the down directional button.) - Current Dispel: Temporarily eliminates the Lightning current of the bow and blades and increases Damage by +10%. (Basically Elemental Reset with an additional effect.) Duration: 200 seconds. (Sight Stance skills) - Violent Current: Fires an arrow infused with powerful wind, hitting up to 6 enemies for 850% damage, but damage is reduced for each successive enemy hit. - Storm Prism: Fires an arrow with chains of wind and lightning behind it, hitting for 200% lightning damage, lifting up to 6 enemies, keeping them suspended for up to 3 seconds, and with 75% lightning Damage Over Time each second. (Note that this simply lifts them up - they can still move and attack.) (Strike Stance skills) - Dual Quad Strike: Hits an even unluckier enemy 8 times for 90% damage. - Reversal Strike: Strikes an enemy in front for 400% damage, then quickly rolls backwards with a range of 450, slashing up to 6 enemies for 350% damage. (There must be an enemy directly on top of you or in front of you for this skill to work. The roll will work regardless of whether there are enemies behind you or not, and has invincibility frames tied with it.) --- Fourth Job: - Maple Warrior: Obviously. - Hero's Will: Obviously. - Timed Breeze: The wind flows in protectively to give party members a chance to take a breather, extending invincibility duration when hit by +3 seconds. Duration: 200 seconds. Cooldown: 300 seconds. - Storm Albatross: Summons an Albatross, a mythical bird with superb eyesight that is said to travel the world year-round. Grants HP and MP +15% while summoned, strikes up to 4 enemies for 250% lightning damage, and inflicts 100% Lightning Damage Over Time for 5 seconds. Duration: 300 seconds. - Stance Mastery: Passive +10% critical hit rate, critical damage, and +50% resistance to being knocked back for both stances. Reduces damage taken by +20% when in Sight Stance, and +30% dodge rate when in Strike Stance. (Sight Stance skills) - Vortex Shot: Fires five arrows that hit for 235% damage. - Cyclone Storm: Fires arrows that fall from the sky like blades of wind, striking up to 8 enemies 3 times for 200% damage. (Basically a stronger Arrow Rain.) (Strike Stance skills) - Hurricane Wheel: Launches circular wind blades that roll along the terrain, striking up to 6 enemies for 215% damage up to 3 times. (If there's a hill in front of you, it will go up that hill. If it reaches the edge of a platform, it will fall off and continue when it lands on a platform below.) - Bladed Tornado: The Archer dances with her blades at high speed and summons a tornado of lightning that roars through the battlefield, hitting up to 15 enemies 3 times for 550% damage. Cooldown: 30 seconds. The New Class Thread - Scaeva - 2011-01-03 Alilatias Wrote: If this was an actual class I would play it. The only thing that bothers me is that it doesn't have acces to the Wind Shot / Wind Piercing skills (the ones Wind Archers use while transformed, unless Violent Current and Tri-Bolt would resemble them or something). Also, would this mean Irena just managed to find a way to be transformed permanently? I really like the idea of not having a standard tutorial and just being able to do cool stuff right away. Actually, I was referencing how in the 3rd job Wind Archer skillbook, Wind Archers could transform into an avatar of this 'Albatross/Eagle Eye' person, which makes me think that the current Wind Archer skillset may have been partially derived from what this Albatross/Eagle Eye could do and mixed in with the Adventurer skillset. The logic behind this class is that you actually play as this Albatross/Eagle Eye person, or at least a direct descendant. I mean, here's the description of the 3rd job Wind Archer transformation: Transforms you into Eagle Eye, a heroic figure who was able to use his bow more freely and skillfully than anyone else! This will enhance your Speed and Jump as well as give you access to the exclusive skills of Eagle Eye. |
