Maybe it's just me, but that doesn't make any sense whatsoever. I thought the hackers were relying on the uninformed legits to turn in the ornaments and make the tree explode? What's the point of DC hacking if it ends up stopping the very people they were relying on?

Unless they changed the event significantly, it's basically a check once a minute that at least ~500 ornaments have been donated. If they have, it increases. It hardly takes any donations to keep it rising, and donating thousands at a time is pointless because it won't rise faster.

Or maybe it rises independently of players. Kinda hard to tell people to stop donating.
