They should...
1. Disable "snatching" attacks by making them always miss or be unable to "snatch". i.e. Chains of Hell, Snatch, Monster Magnet. This means that Chains of hell will only hit once or do nothing if the target isn't close enough for the remaining hits to connect.
2. Reduce the damage dealt by skills that hit multiple times. The more times the skill hits, the less damage it deals.
3. Mages should take the most damage. Thieves, Archers and Pirates should take about the same amount of damage. Warriors should take the least. Everyone has the same amount of HP.
