a lot of unasqued questions from a lurker that came out from the shadows
#7

  1. Almost. Skillbooks for your best skills come out from CS, the in game ones aren't really that common. Not necessary, but extremely reccomended.
  2. You never needed to HP wash, although some areas could only be explored with a certain amount of HP, washing was never obligatory. It just gets easier to survive without HP wash post BB since monsters tend to deal less damage, but HP washing is still a good deal even after the update.
  3. Absolutely no idea. It's not required to HP wash, but still good if you do.
  4. Magicians, Infighters...
  5. They were differently acquired with events. Some were rewards from leveling a certain job, some others were event ones.
  6. Not really. Paladins get a very nice boost post Big Bang, their attacks become really powerful, as well as their defense being ridiculously high. Also, the elemental boost alongside their attacks make them look very good.
  7. Actually... Get the idea that HP washing is required from your mind. Gunslingers have low HP, but that's paid by their high damage. All ranged classes work like that, and if you get used to playing them, you learn some strategies on not getting really high damaged by some bosses, instead of the default hold the attack key and use potions when damaged way of killing a boss.
Of course Arans are soloers, but that doesn't have much things to do with them joining boss squads, because the same way Arans have almost zero party skills, Corsairs do, and they are pretty common among squads.
Pages used to have a little low DPS, all that changed with Big Bang, and was already explained in the answer to your 6th question.
