Well, if you're talking about endless action series, then I suppose they mostly follow the same formula, but it's quite a stretch to say that "everything" is the same.

Eva's certainly not a series for everyone. Not very good to base your judgement on popular stuff, especially something like Eva. a lot of people would just call it pretentious shit because of how hard it tries to stuff so much symbolism into everything and how hard it is to understand. I liked Eva and kinda agree with that, but at the same time it wouldn't be Eva without that, it'd just be a generic mech series.

Wait, you base your judgement on just the stuff that's popular enough to get licensed in America? Well, then again, I don't expect someone without a keen interest to actually go out of their way to find new series.
