Thing about metagame is that you have to be able to predict, it wasn't meant to be a lead. Often-on, I switch back and forth as soon as the battle starts. The only time I get butt-raped is when I notice that I'm trapped (aka Dugtrio ;~
or anything with MeanLook2BatonPass. I don't think it's a terrible lead in UU-metagame, because with CB and maxed att EVs, it has over 500 Att and can pretty much wipe out an entire team. Problem here is that I'm only limited to using 1 attack, which is why I switch often.
Edit ; To clarify a bit, I rarely had a Spiker in 3rd gen metagame. I did use a Rapid Spinner though (Armaldo♥
. 4th gen relies heavily on setting-up Stealth Rock, more so than 3rd gen did with Spikes, imo. From all of the battles I've been in. Most people will try to do that as soon as a battle starts. I might switch Choice Band for Life Orb on my Hariyama though, still deciding on that. Not sure if this still works, but I could set up Claydol first as a lead for Reflect+Stealth Rock. Problem here is, if I can't set it up right and end up getting KO'd. I lost:
1) A rapid spinner
2) Shield
3) Stealth Rocker
>_>
Edit2 ; Actually, gonna change my team eventually and use several other Pokemon. Ludicolo works well to annoy people, but it's too predictable and it's stats aren't great.
