Why do you need to be so defensive when he made several mistakes himself while trying to 'correct' someone?

If he can't stand a person making a mistake while talking about "fluent English", how can he tolerate himself for making mistakes while trying to correct said person?
If his point is that we should not criticize and make such a big fuss over a language/culture we do not like, would it be justifiable for himself to deliver the obviously poor flaming towards the American people and language?
