I agree with Mark, I can pin Pap, but I always have to have puppet ready in case of a non-crit strafe that doesnt KB him.
People always argue which is better, and it really is only preference. Yes, Marksman train faster, but (at least in Bello) any bishop I know would prefer a BM over a Marksman, even AFTER I prove we train faster. Still, BMs have hurricane and that's a pretty sweet skill. Damage wise, once you max snipe, the damage is so similar it isn't worth the arguement. I love maxed snipe, especially for area bosses (and bot-catching monsters). I can just 1-hit em all, like snowman. By the time I cc, snipe has cooled down. I also like seeing that 19x,xxx damage every 5 seconds 
I chose Sniper (before 4th job existed) because they were rare. If you want to make a Marksman, you're gonna need an NX weapon. Most xbows cover your face
Oh yea, xbows and scrolls are cheaper. That's always a plus!
