There are 8 platforms below all the stirges/flames and whatnot that have nothing on them. Standing on one of them turns the "switch" off, no matter how many people are standing on it. I'm not sure if the distribution is the same every time, but I'm guessing that's not true.
Supposedly the idea is to find the right combination of switches to get rid of the stirges and to make a clear path to wherever you need to go. Seems like a time waster to me unless Nexon wants to fix the fire.
