Okay here are the directions.

< ^ v >

An opposite means an antonym, thus something radicaly different. If you choose left (<) and you want the opposite, it can't be up (^) because up is only half way to be the complete opposite of left. So it has to be right (>). It's like in a circle. O° is the opposite of 180°, 90° the opposite of 270°. It can't be any other asnwers.
