Opposite - xpimnoob - 2009-05-29 What are opposites? You might say the opposite of up is down, or the opposite of black is white. Why isn't the opposite of up, left or right? Or the opposite of black, green or purple? Same category stuff... You might say that opposites must be a complete flip/reflection or something. What about other stuff like... Whats the opposite of the sun? If you were taking it from an earthling's perspective, it would be the moon. But after science and stuff we know that these aren't even in the same category nor are they a complete flip. There's no real meaning to it, it's just when someone says antonym or opposite of down, your first instinct should be up, because you've been around that the longest. Opposite - CJScarlet - 2009-05-29 When it comes to colors, it's pretty defined. White is the combination of all colors, black is the lack of any colors. Green can't be the opposite of white because green is already included in white, so that would be like saying that a piece of glass is the opposite of a window. And for all the colors, we have the color wheel (invisible colors sold separately)In my opinion, the really interesting thing about opposites is the in-betweens. White is the opposite of black, mostly everyone will say that. But what's the opposite of grey? Ninja'd by a bish

Is that wrong to assume so? What's the opposite of 1? Is it -1, or is it the square root of -1? Opposite - Ryuzaki - 2009-05-29 Okay here are the directions. < ^ v > An opposite means an antonym, thus something radicaly different. If you choose left (<) and you want the opposite, it can't be up (^) because up is only half way to be the complete opposite of left. So it has to be right (>). It's like in a circle. O° is the opposite of 180°, 90° the opposite of 270°. It can't be any other asnwers. Opposite - Greg22 - 2009-05-29 Who said everything needs an opposite... ?
