well, i meant that, cult, church, group, the point is that this is an actual group that does revere satan, rather than a bunch of guys who only thought it'd be nice to mess with the government/protest about the separation between church and state.

for them, they can only win this, either they get the 10 commands out, or they get the devil in, if neither, they get the attention and the smart (aka not-zealous) people will understand why they tried what they tried.

Satanists don't actually worship Satan, at least not the ones that are actually orchestrating this charade. If you look at the history of Satanists, they're essentially just a more grim and edgy version of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Essentially they're just atheists, but they wanna send a message in an ironic way that will piss off those who are religious (specifically those belonging to the Abrahamic religions, if it wasn't obvious enough). Satan is more of a figure to them of rebellion, like one who went astray from their ways in pursuit of their own goals, etc.

Though, that isn't to say there aren't actual cults out there that do worship Satan in a very real way; they interpret scriptures to pretty much be showing that Yaweh is actually a plantain who wants to imprison us as his slaves and keep us away from knowledge, while Satan is only trying to free us from his creepy grasps and give us the gift of knowledge, and is actually more in the side of humans that a divine overbearing hypocritical power hungry creator. It's just that most people who self identify as Satanists actually just say so ironically to make a point and aggravate people.

So in that sense, yes, their motives are to piss people off; but they wouldn't have started if OK didn't allow the religious monument in the first place.
