You didn't, that's just what it sounded like. Basically, you are saying that, because you guys have a full-on filter that you need to use a proxy to get past, that somehow makes this a nonissue, because it's "not as bad as it could be". It's not as bad as it could be, RIGHT NOW, but any government will constantly test boundaries just to see if they can inch closer and closer to full control of the lives of all of their citizens; this is just a push, there will always be another push as long as the previous was successful. Unfortunately, no matter what happens, they win; either it is successful and they gain more foothold, or it is unsuccessful and people are desensitized to it over time, gradually looping to them winning just based on the jaded populace not giving a pomegranate anymore.
They honestly don't expect to get bills like SOPA or PIPA or whatever else they want to make up pass, those bills are MADE to fail, so that, when the next "SOPA" comes out, it will be slightly less important to people, and the one after that slightly less important than that one, and so on until nobody cares because it's been tried and scrapped hundreds of times. At that point, when the people that should care no longer do, they push hard on a single bill and get it passed before anyone even knows what happened. The formula works very well, almost too well; people are very stupid, and politicians are very good at exploiting that stupidity, manipulation is almost an art form to them at this point.
