Arrol Wrote:Thanks. Now another questions. In terms of Free Hunt and quests, is it better to capture your monster rather than killing them?
SuperNerd Wrote:It's generally almost always better to capture monsters, as it increases the rewards you get at the end of the quest, giving you more bang for your buck. However, there are some instances where the % of carving a certain item is better than the % of getting it in the end quest rewards, so obviously it'll be better to kill in those instances.
Actually, as a general principle, usually: If you need something rare, you're usually better off capturing, but if you need something common, you're better off killing. You usually get less but rarer rewards for capturing, at least in my experience.

SuperNerd Wrote:I'm assuming you're talking about Agnaktor, but I'm not sure which one, so I'll just detail both. For regular Agnaktor, his igneous rock armor melts every time he gets back into lava, this includes walking through it or digging down into the ground into the magma below. Attack him after he has done this and with enough hits, you can damage certain areas on his body and will no longer be able to form igneous armor on those parts--these parts include: his beak, all four of his legs, his tail, and his spinal fin. If the magma on his body cools and forms his armor, it's best to just focus on dodging and avoiding him until he melts it off again.

For Glacial Agnaktor, it's sort of the same deal but a little more difficult. Instead of armor forming over time on its body, the frozen ice armor is instantly on his body from the start of the fight or after anytime he dips himself into the ice below. You can break his parts to make it so he can't form armor on those parts, and they are the exact same as regular Agnaktor. The only thing is, you have to wait a few minutes for the ice armor to actually melt off his skin, OR there are two other ways: one way includes just hitting the armored parts and bouncing off over and over until it shatters, or if you bring a Fire elemental weapon (which you should, considering he's weak to it), hitting the ice armored areas with the Fire weapon will melt the ice faster.

So what I noticed from P3rd was that Glacial Agnaktor's Ice is literally the reverse of regular Agnaktor's Lava.
Regular Agnaktor's Lava starts weak, but overtime hardens and becomes strong.
Glacial Agnaktor's Ice starts strong, but overtime softens and becomes weak.
Edit: Derp, that's what you said. My bad, I didn't notice that the first time I read it for some reason.

It's a lot harder to deal damage to Glacial because Glacial rarely stays above ground long enough for this to occur. It makes him far harder than he needs to be. Thankfully if you're a gunner you don't deal with bouncing, but as a Bow user myself I wouldn't really use many damage based coatings until you've broken some stuff or you're doing less damage than you need to. I personally use Exhaust, Para and Poison while he still has Ice and wait until its broken to use Close Range and Power, so that I can maximize my damage.

Agnaktor is basically Gravios without the weakspot that makes him a joke.

SuperNerd Wrote:Wow, I feel dumb. I input this into the armor generator and set it to precisely as you described it, but it couldn't come up with anything. So I tried adding everything up myself, except I forgot I was using the old amount required for each skill from Tri, which is different than 3U, and then I finally realized my mistake. Regardless, nice set. I may use it myself cause yesterday I managed to get lucky and actually find a Handicraft +5 Charm (it even has the added bonus of Current Resistance +10, wooooooo).
Well there was also the possibility that you didn't have the right table, which would have sucked. That's why the new charm system is retarded.
