I absolutely fu'cking hate everything about Lagiacrus. He's pathetically easy on land, but then ridiculously bullsh'it in water. I just did the urgent to kill him, and half the fight was hits from dives where he didn't even come close to me. Quite a few times he hit me when he was half his length (long-ways) away from me. I hated him in Tri, and it's no different here. He's not a fun monster in my opinion.
Water combat in general isn't fun in my opinion. I wish they left it out like they did in P3rd. I feel like everything you fight in water is ridiculously faster and more powerful underwater while you get weaker, slower, and clunkier controls. I'm not looking forward to the new final boss at all.
Duramboros is a little weird to fight the first time, I agree...but once you realize you're actually safe CLOSE to him in many situations as opposed to most monsters, he ends up being really easy. His HP wasn't too bad in P3rd but I dunno what they did to him here either.
I tend to do the same thing with armor myself...but mostly because none of the armor sets I run into have anything appealing in terms of skills. I still haven't touched Bow, despite it being my favorite weapon type, because all the gunner armors just make me cringe.

SuperNerd Wrote:Finished all the offline Low Rank quests yesterday and have started High Rank ones. Also got to High Rank online with my buddy. Most of the LR quests gave me little to no trouble, however, I can be the first to admit, I struggled a little against Duramboros (one of the new Brute Wyverns). Overall he isn't as aggressive as other Brute Wyverns, but by god, he has so much pineappleing HP. Took me 45 of the 50 minutes to kill him and I ended up dying once because he threw himself up into the air and came right back down on top of me unexpectedly, taking away like 1/3 of my health bar. The amount of time it took to kill him was a little frustrating, cause I just kept begging, "WHY WON'T YOU JUST DIE?!" constantly, but overall it was refreshing to actually have a challenging fight finally.
I'm still rockin a combination of Alloy+Jaggi armor, so I'm taking a ton of damage in the HR quests when I get hit, probably should work on upgrading... I tend to focus on just upgrading my weapons, which is just habit. I plan to do a combination of Volvidon+Rathalos to get Attack (L) and Evasion +1 (I am using Dual Swords currently).
Also just throwing my info up, too...
