Besides the fact that most faculty members go underpaid in many parts of the world, consider:
- Most teaching positions, whether you agree or not, assist the community in a way that few others can. Without teachers, the intellect of our modern people would be very much unhoned and undiscovered. Hell, without someone to teach them, most kids would barely comprehend their own languages.
- Teaching goes far too unappreciated in comparison to such relatively insignificant positions as athletes or actors. It's funny that a person can devote their time to assisting the development of children and get paid, on average, $47,000 a year, while professional athletes can command $100,000+ a year just to play sports for a living.
