While I only read the text in the quest tab for the collection quests. It says only 1 coin, I don't remember if it gave me 1 coin or 2 coins exactly though (I can only say I think it gave me one coin). I collected 100 of those forest logs or something that drops from the speeyor colored mobs. I don't know if you want to call that an exception or not. I'll remember to make a note of them tomorrow when I do my next session of coin collecting, currently at 110 coins.

Did you turn it in to Maroon or one of the merchants?
Maroon only gives 1 coin, Gallero and Romero give 2. In my experience.
(No, you can't choose who to turn it into. The quest tells you.)
