For some, very, very odd reason, that bunny doll reminds me of Chuckie...
The funny thing is, even though I started this thread, my headcanon still refuses to believe she's a girl.

It's a really common thing to give young looking guys extremely feminine voices in anime, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's what they did here.

I know, but that was just too feminine.
They better confirm Lotus' gender so people would stop being so confused...

EDIT: He/she does look kinda young, but not THAT young.
Unless of course, he/she just didn't go through puberty

But that's the point...
Maple Story, if you're not confused, we're not doing it right.

Su's been in a cryogenic state for like 300 years. That might repress puberty, I ono!

You know what.
Let's just call Lotus an "it" and call it a day.
It's too hot for me to think Tongue.
But Orca looks pretty young too... how do you explain that?

Actually I'm pretty sure it's a guy. A few weeks ago they released new hairs, one of them being Suu's hair, and what do you know, it's for males Tongue

There's also Orca and Aria's hair for females :o

Oh god. I can't "do want" that Orca hair enough... :l

What kind of guy would be named Lotus? This is what I'm wondering.

A guy with parents who hate him

Maybe there is a reason for the name?
Like how the changed Orca's name to Orchid in GMS.

Orca is young because the Black Mage gave her powers.

They didn't change Orca's name to Orchid for GMS, they actually use both names for her.

In the Mercedes quest where you fight her, Mercedes addresses her as "Orchid", then she responds by saying she goes by "Orca" now.

Oh... Its a codename...
Well I guess Suu is a codename too?
(I haven't played a merc past lvl 25 so I wouldn't know Tongue)

Well, i guess that this mystery's solved with Phantom quests now, and that Lotus can be understood as Megaman X8's Lumine case; a boy, that doesn't look like a boy, doesn't talk like a boy, doesn't have the body of a boy, but is a boy. :|

The person sleeping in that room in Edelstein, with long hair is no one other than Lotus (he says that he's been there since the Heroes have been defeated, and that his frail look isn't his true form; since it's been centuries, his hair just did grow up.) Phantom also mentions that him and Orchid were inseparable, he's nothing more than a spirit without a body; so we can guess that Orchid was the body part of their real form.

Phantom also speaks about him being "a man" in the past on the level 74 quest. We could relate that to what happens to the Empress, according to Phantom. That a child body is just a sign that they can't have their full power yet, not having anything to do with their age. That also explains why Orchid is only lv 70 while all the other commanders are at least 120; both of them are completely weak until they're together, and for that, he needs to get back to his body and join his sister.

He doesn't look like a man because that's not his true form, he apparently seems to need his twin to achieve that; he has that extremely female voice because he's just a kid now. Still, this is just goddamn weird.

So with that.... something piques my curiosity. Would Orca/Lotus's case be like a mix of Sakubo (split personality syndrome) and Twinrova (two halves weak, one whole strong), or would it be an amalgam of either one?

Orca's story intrigues me because it appears that she might have been one person completely, with Lotus being an alter-ego or something like that. Also, it may have been ORCA that was the tranny, or that losing her/his alter-ego made time-space remove his/her you-know-whats, turning Orca from a man to a girl.

This is intriguing because Orca's the commander we know so little about - hell, I think we know little about the Black Knights in entirety!
