Maker - Alchemy Skill FAQ and Walkthrough

But it's nice to know. *Hoards steel*

medium grade dex and int crystals are about 2m each.
medium grade luk and str crystals are about 4-5m each.
medium grade dark crystals.. I can't really say. you don't see these very often.
high grade anything (except diamonds) are about 40-50m each.

I'd say the most popular equips being made are weapons and overalls. though from what I can see from talking to the korean players, a lot of them don't even know how to use the maker skill. because of this, there's not much supply of anything made directly through the skill.

as for which plates are in the highest demand.. hmm.. I'd say steel is #1 followed close by mithril. they seem to have the highest prices. about steel though, keep in mind that mushmom no longer has iron boars guarding her home, so there's fewer steel plates being made from their hooves.

Thanks for the info! I'm glad that I have huge supplies of steel, mithril, and all the stat crystals. Is the low dark crystal supply just because they're rare or because not many people are willing to take the risk with them?

Is Mithril like GMS where majority are being turned into Daggers to get into Horntail? That's the only thing I can think of to drive it up.

well, they're definitely not rare lol. either roids or neohuroids drop them like mad and they're the main training area for everyone 5x-8x. I guess a lot of people just use them on the job advancement.

yeah, pretty sure that's the main reason. but also a lot of weapons require a few mithril plates to be created. if I remember correctly, both the 90 gun and 90 knuckle require some mithril; it's possible that all level 90 weapons need it.

Indeed. The Maker skill may end up as little-used as the current item-maker NPCs. How many people on GMS make their own equipment (when possible)? Judging by the low prices of production manuals and stimulators in MTS, and their absence from FM, I would say very very few.

It doesn't help that you can forge very little top/bottom/overall/hat armour if any, gloves and shoes only go up to 80 (and usually end up inferior to SCG/BWGs and Facestompers respectively), weapons are either capped at 50 or require those incredibly rare (IIRC) dragon scales/spirits for level 110 weapons.

I feel like I'm missing something, but I can't remember what...

There's a huge difference between Maker and the Forging NPCs, and that is the crystals. If graded jewels did not exist, then yeah, it's a totally pointless skill. However, because of this, we now have an amazing degree of customization possible. A great example I can think of is high level archer armor. HP's always a concern for high level archers. With this skill system in place, not only can we get 5 STR and 5 DEX above average on our overall, but we can also toss on a jewel for HP. Now, 30 HP may not seem like much, but if you had 30 on your overall and gloves and shoes... You can see where I'm going with this. Granted with the presence of a lot of the equips available in GMS (Bosshunter Armor, Facestompers, and so on) this may not be as useful as it is in KMS, but it's certainly going to be a great help.

The only concern is if people don't understand it in GMS as well.

I see and I can't wait to play with it.

However, the forging is just the beginning.

Let's say you made your glove. It has + STR, + DEX, +30 HP. But no ATT. Now you start scrolling. Do you dare use 30%s or even 70%s on a glove that cost you a couple hundred millions to make? Or will you scroll conservatively with 60%s, and end up with ATT that is inferior to what you could get if you started with a supply of cheap average gloves that you didn't particularly care about breaking?

Same with the shoes (where's my speed and jump?), overall (surely you don't settle for one crystal's worth of DEX?), and so on.

If you could pile on any number of jewels and end up with a "clean" item so godly it needs no scrolling, I could see everybody using this. But when all that investment gives you an item that is still inferior (to currently available scrolled items) in certain attributes - well, we'll just have to wait and see how many people bother with it.

That, too.

I made a glove with the maker skill that I scrolled with 60%s and I'd say it's worth it. 6 str 7 dex 10 attack on one glove.. it's basically the equivalent of a 12 attack glove. and I only used medium grade dex and str crystals. you could also use high grade crystals and a glove stimulator and get even better results.

if anything, the maker skill will at least present a new option to people who can't afford all the high priced attack gloves.

Thanks you guys for all this info xD

Would those of you with a maker skill mind posting sample recipes?

eg. level 50 pirate overall = 5 magic powder (brown?) + 10 low grade C crystals.

I'm really more curious about the level 90-120 armor (glove, shoe, top/bottom/overall) but anything would be informative.

There was a list of all the required items on sleepywod by Fiel, it naturally got deleted but perhaps he can repost it. Or maybe someone who saved it can repost it. Wasn't really relevant to me in KMS since anything I needed, I could see the requirements for. XD

I remember how useless most of the Gems were when refined, it was quite a disappointment, I hope we get it soon enough, so they're not useless anymore.
Also do you need a weapon forging manual to forge the weapons? And for that matter, I hope they change the drops for stimulators so they're easier to come by.

Edit: Also 100k isnt all that bad for appraisal, considering how often diamonds drop from APQ i'd wing it.

Yeah, I'd really like to see it also. I'd like to think the 5k Old Neckbones I have in MTS storage will be enough to make a full lvl 110 set at least once... but I have no idea.

I've decided to start keeping an ore mule again because of this xD

Edit: also does this replace the weapon/armor crafting NPCs now, as well?

More or less replaces them in function. They'll still be there but... They'll be pointless.

Actually, considering they don't need monster crystals, it's still an option... A depowered option, though...
