Will gach, cubes etc. soon become illegal?

Take the DFO standpoint and have it where you can CHOOSE your stats for NX!

inb4 mass rage of "Unique Snowflake Syndrome".

Not at higher %'s... Gl fusing a 21% item

If cubes suddenly didn't exist anymore, fusing would NOT be an acceptable backup. You realize what this would do? Everyone who previously spent money on cubes could sell their s'hit at extreme premiums because unique/legendary is SO F'UCKING RARE TO GET through fusing. Rich would get rich and poor would get poorer because everyone is now fusing for unique+ stuff, which makes it impossible to sell your s'hit because you MOST LIKELY aren't going to get anything valuable.

For the fusing system to be an adequate replacement for cubes the % chances for things would have to be increased 5 fold or higher. At the very least cubes have to start dropping.

inb4 "Legendary" Tier is exactly as the name says.

They don't have to make anything start dropping. They can opt for a complete removal of the items (as complete as they can without screwing those that already paid), ending in an eventual de-evolution of the game, meaning those who already have, will always, while those who don't, will never.

They could also just make you pay directly for the stats. While in some ways they could be cheaper in the long run, at the same time it could be more expensive for the players. Either way, it'd end up making Nexon less money for them to use on already crappy service.

This should just be left alone, it's a sound business model, it's really no different than those prize machines that used to be in every store, those "random" or "lucky button press" games that used to be in skating rings, and who knows where else they could be atm, as I'm not a kid I don't necessarily go anywhere these machines would be anymore.

As far as the "haves" and "have nots," the "have nots" really just need to get over themselves. Frankly, the way of the world is, if you can get it, it's yours. It's nature at it's finest. Don't bother bringing any of this crap "little kids taking their parents credit cards."

Some of you literally only have a problem with these systems, cause you can't make much use out of it. I said some, btw, for those that can't read, and I'm not pointing out anyone specific. It's true though. Anyone that does have access to it, and is complaining, it's because they haven't had the right luck with these systems.

Anyways, as far as the op, it really just seems like "government" aiming for more control. Whichever way it goes, believe me, someone will have equally as much a problem with any route taken, there is just literally no scenario where everyone wins.

I just think they should make cubes tradable, make a cash trading nx room, and/or make cubes drop from bosses at a really low rate.

How is that fair at all? People would just hack each other for the best s'hit.

It really doesn't have ANYTHING to do with previous luck. It's just a question of ethics. A question any sane human being would be able to answer ethically.

This just happens to be the one scenario where the customers win and the company suffers. God forbid the government of all people take action on ethically challenging problems.

*cubes removed* Average player: Aw man, now i can't spend hundreds of dollars on average to become average in this online game... (a gap that, by the way, only becomes worse with legendary)

That's not the discussion at all. The question if we like it or not is irrelevant if the law states it is not legit, it will be removed. We're thinking of what nexon would decide to replace it with. Noone said "omg cubes suck they have to go".

Untill now: Cubes suck, really. And this is why: I don't mind paying for something, but I do mind paying without knowing I will have the desired effect. Moments ago I bought 4 premium cubes. My item was still 2 lined afterwards! I feel scammed and regret buying NX... Is that what you want a customer to feel after a purchase as a company? Yes I would be happy if one of them had worked, but not more happy than buying a 10k NX 100% 3L converter item. The problem is there is a (big) possibility you end up spending loads of money for something you want or end up with nothing because you're out of credits. Gambling is NOT a good business model for any company IMO. Certainly not for a "kids game".

PS: By the way, there IS a way in which everybody wins. They have to remove all cash shop items that provide power and only keep vanity/utility/ease items. This includes for sure, cubes and hammers. To not render existing items either useless or overpowered, they could for example become available in stores for say 50 and 200m. Then they just need to improve their overall quality of the game, so lot's of new people join every day, and they will buy the items because they want to, not because they need to. They would probably feel a large dent in their profits applying this, but this could be filled for example with "expansion packs". Basically it would mean victoria is the "free" area. If you want to got to ossyria, you'd have to unlock it with a onetime (per account) fee. Same could be done for Ariant, ludus lake and leafre. This would mean a steady income and motivation to keep the games quality high so they attract alot of new players. Voila, everybody happy Smile Not going to happen though, because the game is too old to suddenly change this drastically, it would destroy it. Can't wait for Guild Wars 2 though, which seems to apply this perfectly.

PPS: Eh. Sorry for kinda offtopic wall of text >_<

this

gambling isnt a legal activity for a person until they're "mature enough to understand the consequences" of losing, defined by government. when you gamble someone else's money, they're the ones who have to deal with the consequences, and this game has a significant player base of people who don't have their own money to spend and don't realize there ARE consequences.

We're way over the line of NX affecting gameplay, there's basically no chance they'll go all the way back on that now. But they could nerf the potential system pretty easily to make it less all encompassing. Remove all tiers (but rare). Suddenly, fusion is as good as cubing - cubes would only be used for really hard to obtain stuff that isn't economical to fuse. The advantage from stat %s stay comparable to scrolling bonuses instead of completely blowing them out of the water. 9% equips (more likely 3-6) aren't as overwhelming an advantage.

Of course, this screws all the people who gambled away money but hey: that's what Nexon is going to do to all your in-game gains someday anyway. And it screws you less than taking out potential entirely, which is what I personally wish they'd do. Might as well make the game better for those of us who don't have a gambling problem in a way that makes the game more balanced and less reliant on NX. And no, everyone doesn't win. If you take away the addict's heroin, he could still die in sudden withdrawal. But at least the playerbase as a whole loses less.

More on topic, I hope they do start restricting the more predatory things these MMO companies do to make money and attract users. They might even have to start designing good games instead of making kiddie casinos (gasp)

I'd argue that it would actually increase prices to remove them from the CS.
Unless they start dropping like etc drops or something, the few cubes per hour you'd get hunting, wouldn't match the hundreds to thousands people spend daily making % items.

Have cubes drop from bosses only, and them being untreadable. Decent drop rate. I can be okay with that. But the game is small getting away from the free to play.

I might start playing the free to play DC Universe online if the game becomes more nx cash based than it already is.

The people who can solo those bosses daily(HT,zak, etc) already have decent to high amounts of % gear. The new players who have little to none % gear won't be able to fight these bosses, and thus will never be able to upgrade their gear.
Taking cubes out of CS only makes rich get richer and poor get poorer in all scenarios. Nexon would be stupid to do it anyway, seeing as cubes are their #1 source of revenue from this game.

Obviously high level bosses would have a higher cube drop rate than low level ones.
And if low leveled ones dropped it, every boss map would be camped 24/7, and all bosses would turn into ks and dc wars(Remember Bigfoot?)
And it would be stupid to have Mano dropping something as valuable as cubes anyway..
I'd assume only manon/Griffey/Pianus/pap and higher would drop cubes.

How about Boss Level/2 = Cubes dropped minimum and Boss level/1.5 as cubes dropped maximum.
Example: Zakum is 110.
Minimum of 55 cubes dropped(5 stacks of 11), maximum of 73 cubes dropped.
