I heard that this will be the same day the Messiah comes and it'll be OMFG fantastic. National celebrate "Nexon Went Down Day"? I'll set up a nice BBQ and invite everyone to Jersey for like a three-day sleepover. On the flip-side for all the dedicated MS players, this can also be, "Cheer Up and Party Day."

To the people saying that we who were playing FMS are biased, you would be biased too, as you're plainly against PServers. You would simply be apathetic with this, since frankly, you don't give a pomegranate about it. On the other hand, we saw it coming too. Josh may have been quite the Anego-buddy, but that doesn't mean that all he did was grind. Our guild [Love] was quite sociable and chatty at times with him, much more than I've ever seen in any of my guilds on GMS.
For the record, I've quit Maple completely. I've taken to playing other games now, but I still roam around and stuff.
To Josh and Ken:
Hai.

I left GMS like 8 months ago adn started playing Odin... it had only 8x exp but it was funner and you dindt had to spet hours of grinding to get to a high lvl and also the comunity was awesome...then i pplayed some others pservers but got shutted down too.... and i stopped playing MS buti like to come to forums often.
In the end the ppl who said that GMS is the one that wikll be standing at the last may be right or wrong (look at the WOW pservers theyre still there) but its just a matter of opininon whiile i totally disagree with opeth, but he has his own motives to say what he did and he isnt a troll just for expressing himself......and i doubt that ppl from FMS will return to global.
Anyway its sad to hear that an awesome server as Flowsion got closed but i think thats the wiser option for the devs and the hoster..... altough they like the game a lot they wont wont be risking they financial future for a game.
anyway that are my 2 cents and sorry for the bad grammar im from Mexico.

many....noobs (not newbies; noobs) running around giving people a crappy time
maybe, just maybe, there might be a correlation between the quantity and quality.

I do hope you guys realize that people can have just as much fun playing GMS as they do playing a Private Server. There is no real reason to play Private Servers, if you have the right friends to play with. If you don't have the right friends at the moment, go on out there and make some friends. I see some of you arguing that the Private Server was a play of chatting and relaxing, but I hope you also realize that GMS isn't all about the grind.
The only difference I see between GMS and any Private Server is the experience rates and the groups of friends. Let me elaborate on this. The only reason people really enjoy private servers is because they don't want to spend the time grinding, or, as many of you have already stated, because of your new friends. Friends make your time on the private server much funner, but I'm sure if you had met these friends on a regular server, you still would have had fun. The only thing that might change a bit is what you guys do together, but that doesn't really matter does it? If I'm hanging out with my friends, I don't care about whether or not I'm bossing or at HHG1. It's all about the fun spent together isn't it?
You guys have made these new friends because all of you stumbled across FMS. Had you been lucky, I'm sure you could have met friends just as good at the ones in FMS here on GMS.
With that said, I don't see why so many of you are so angry. I'm a stupid little idiot, but it seems the only thing you've really lost is the time you've spent grinding, you did not keep in contact with your friends. You've lost your time, but Maplestory is just a time waster anyway. Just get together with the friends that you played with a start over on a server in GMS (preferably Khaini) and just have some more fun. At least with playing a server on GMS, you know that all your hard work isn't going to be erased in a matter of seconds.
Now I still have no idea what the bullnackle we're arguing about. What is all this nonsense?

Everyone on FMS was an intellectual. Just them being there, being in a low rate server shows that they know the value of what levels and what work and accomplishments mean. It's not like gMS Tespia where you just talk to an NPC and get a 4th job character, it's not screw around story where you can solo HT, it's having fun at a pace that didn't ruin the game, while still having fun with friends, while still being able to enjoy the game at a decent levl rather than just being 7x in gMS.
Just because FMS was 20x exp, doesn't mean you can easily level. There were only 2 people at 200 on FMS. That shows two things: 1)Level ups in the later levels weren't easy. People in the 18x got around 10%. It's fast compared to gMS, it's at a pace that doesn't doesn't require you to do all nighters or skip classes. 2) it shows people there didn't care about levels. FlowsionMS is not a community about Maple Story, it's a community about being with people you respect, and whom you call friends.

That and if someone's KSing you, a GM will usually respond within minutes and either get the person to stop or ban them. Hackers get banned as soon as they're caught.
I'd like to see that kind of service on GMS but it hasn't happened yet.

Unfortunately, I'm one of the few that got dragged BACK to MapleStory because of private servers. I quit for a LONG time, then suddenly, PSes came out, I joined them, and boom! I was hooked to Maple again. =/
But seriously... there are no people on in MapleStory anymore. It's not full like it used to be.

Now for Flowsion to reply.
I wonder how serious this case is. If it was just a threat from Nexon, or if they pressed charges, because FMS was one of the best developed and gMS-like PServers ever.[/COLOR]

Aside from that, there are other reasons to maple than friends, even though it's a big part of it. I had friends on gMS being in one of Khaini's top guild, as well as B0WJOB. But there are aspects to the game the FMS provided that gMS can not, and probably will never provide. Two of which are mentioned by Stereo. And as Azalea said, it is difficult for people outside the FMS community to experience this than people inside.

Don't forget the porn. Anyways, I played it for quite some time and really enjoyed it. I tried other PSers and none were like FMS. I would have to say it was full of the nicest people I had met in a long time when I took a break from gMS.

It was fun while it lasted :-)
To those who are completely against private servers, I understand where you're coming from. I played FMS mostly to see what it was like to play a 100+ sader/hero without having to grind yet another year of my life on a game. Nexon faces a lot more challenges than just people leaving for pservers.
Here are some of the reasons I won't be returning to GMS (other than to say hi to my guildies)
100% lack of customer service.
No software quality control. (whatever happened to using a test server)
No active GM population.
The worst unbalanced MMO in terms of classes (LOLFP, etc)
MTS taxes sink RL money, even if it's not your RL money. (If everyone used MTS only, there would eventually be no more NX generated)
did i mention no customer service?
Because of the pomegranatety software QC, glitches are abused all the time. and people are rarely punished. (and if they are, Nexon doesn't always get that right either)
The absolutely worst EXP table to get to level cap in any game I have ever played. I mean, the first lvl 200 took how many years and apparently that account was shared.
death penalty isn't proportional to level.
CS prices for some stuff is just insane. People have spent hundreds of dollars on just EXP hair coupons.
The incredible inflation due to gold farmers is just retarded.
The statwhoring (nuff said)
The fact that I had to marry my own mule to get a reliable source of onyx apples for funding. (yes, I spent 20$ on an in game marriage to myself)
That said, I know what game I will be playing next as soon as it is out. And I will gladly pay the monthly fee as I know I will not have to deal with any of the above. (google darkfall online if you're interesting in a real MMO)
That's my 1.6 measly cents.

That is never going to happen in GMS. Ever. It's not like other MMO like WoW or guildwars where you can get the attention of a GM by filing a support ticket. Nexon did absolutely nothing for months about the hacker infestation. Either they didn't bother or they were so incompetent that it took them that many months to figure out the wonderfully effective autoban system.

I don't remember any bugs being fixed from it anyway.
Anyone remember the 25.5 hour patch?
The test server beforehand was unusable for 3-4 days out of the week before that patch.
Shows how much Nexon cares about their testing.

No one is getting mad about a private server closing down. They're getting mad because Nexon is incompetent at doing things that private servers are able to accomplish.

Chameleonic Wrote:It is a sad indictment when a PS with a handful of people run the game better than a multi million dollar corporations does. Not really... it's to be expected. A ragtag bunch doing a smaller job out of love compared to a handful of employees who are expected to manage an exponentially larger amount of coverage.
A few things I'd like to point out:
#1: You might be bummed by this, but Nexon is entirely within their rights to do this. They are not greedy, they are a business, and they are an owner of intellectual property. Both identities (the business and the IP owner) are both morally and legally justified to do what they're doing. If you owned a business, you'd be doing all you could to maximize profits, and if you owned a lucrative IP, you'd be doing all you could to protect it.
#2: It doesn't matter if Nexon closing your unofficial server will bring you back to the official servers. Their goal is not to bring you back, their goal is to protect themselves from illegal competition. Go ahead and don't come back to Nexon... they don't care.
#3: If you want to do a private server, do a PRIVATE server. Keep it private. Don't allow it to be open to the public, don't allow anyone with a means to search know about it. What we've had thus far have been unofficial public servers, NOT private servers. You keep it private and Nexon won't even know your server exists.
#4: You developers should put your talents to good legitimate use. If you can create an original server backend to interact with an existing client, why not take the next step and create an original client? Heck, you do it right and you could even have your new original game run off the same account database that already exists for the MapleStory server.
Quote:To the people saying that we who were playing FMS are biased, you would be biased too, as you're plainly against PServers.
A bias on the side of reasoned law is not a bad thing. I am definitely biased in favor of laws that prevent behavior that I think should not happen. For example, murder is wrong, so I like that it is against the law to kill someone. Is it then bad that I would be biased if I had a debate against a murderer? A bit extreme of an example, I'll admit, but the parallels are solid: both are things which are illegal, both are things which are morally unjustified. No, just because you think Nexon has bad service, that does not morally justify you ripping them off.
Lylac Wrote:No one is getting mad about a private server closing down. They're getting mad because Nexon is incompetent at doing things that private servers are able to accomplish. A small unofficial server will ALWAYS have the power to have better GM presence. You get a good crew of folks GMing on a small unofficial server, and there is NO chance the official server could keep up.
And that is the only thing that the unofficial servers have over the official. Giving higher experience rates are not an objectively positive feature, and the client isn't managed by the unofficial crew either. It's really just that because of the unofficial server's smaller size and increased dedication from the team (being unpaid volunteers, that is), their GMs can control things a lot better. Really, the unofficial GMs might be good, but if you put the same crew on the official servers, I assure you that the GM presence STILL wouldn't be very good. There's simply too much, too many maps, too many people, too many idiots. Frankly, they can do what they do on unofficial because of how small it is.
