Trade hack is back? Also.. I got hacked.

Does your email still exist? I ask this because people use an email made only for their maple account, and those emails that are never used are deleted after a while. If your email was deleted, then hacker can create it again and hack you.

Look at your post. See that yellow card in the left corner? That means it was a warning. Warnings are exactly that, warnings that what you did could have received points (and will if you continue). The PM you received also was entitled "Warning" and if you're still not sure go to your profile and look at your Infractions tab and it will show you zero points for the warning.

People dumb enough to set their Sleepywood account info the same as their MapleStory account info.

Unless there's a PIC bypass, there'd still be at least one barrier in the way.

I wanted to make mention of this in this thread, but it was locked before I could post:

My brother actually logged in a couple weeks ago to find his account had been "stripped" and all his NX had been used. I use quotes because the intruders were apparently too in a rush to check all of his characters as his FM mule was untouched.
What was left wasn't comparable to what he lost, so he quit because he doesn't think it's worth it to rebuild.
I can't disagree with him.

Did a quick search and he does have a Sleepywood account, but neither his username nor his password is the same as his Maple account.
So that rather rules out that.

It's also quite literally impossible that they accessed the email tied with his Nexon account since that particular address no longer exists and hasn't for years.

I've saw a couple similar stories on Basil around the same time. This was actually a few days after the server issues that occurred several weeks ago as well. Of course, my noticing other account breaches could simply be because I've been looking for them.

Personally, I would definitely second the recommendation for everyone to change their passwords.

Thats so obvious yet I didn't do that.

At this point I'm almost sure there was some kind of security breach, the number of people hacked is insainly high and lot of them (including me) are 100% sure that they don't have any kind of malware in their computers or share their information with any person/site.

i still dont see how hackers can get your PIC unless you gave it out or nexon leaked info

My Mother's account was hacked this past Monday I'm not sure what the cause is, she did link her account to the facebook game and was the only one of the five maplers in our house to do so. That makes me think that it has something to do with tying you maplestory account to facebook but I can't say for sure. She never set up a basil or sleepywood account and I'm certain that it wasn't a keylogger. Her account was also hacked in near the same manner as zero, her accounts where left with all her reverse gear and female gender items but all her mesos and nx where stripped a long with everything else. I do think that there is something going on though there just seems to be to many people getting hacked to just be a coincidence at least to me.
EDIT: To the person above me, I'm of the mind that they are getting access to peoples email accounts that they use with there maplestory account since we were unable to log onto my mothers email with the pass she provided, thankfully she had a recovery email that was tied to the account.

Atleast 3 people I know has been hacked in the past week, this is getting out of hand. Why can't nexon just impose a mandatory password reset or something? If there actually was a database leak, I'm sure nexon would know it by now...

Nexon has never been keen on acknowledging security breaches (like most companies).
Until it becomes extremely visible, they'll likely deal with it on a case-by-case basis.

That would do jack sh`it. There hasn't been a legitimate useful bruteforce for maplestory since 2008. Most of the time they completely avoid your password and force a change. Back in 2010 the big thing would be to IP track players through skype, msn, email, any means necessary, and use that IP to find out the emails of the player. After all that's done they can hack the email using the IP as a means of "I lost my password to my email." Most hackings take days to actually accomplish.

But there have been cases of people getting hacked in a similar way without ever linking their accounts to the facebook game. I think that the linking of Facebook accounts is just a coincidence. Also, wouldn't it be much, much harder to hack Facebook than Maplestory?

There's no Nexon database leak. I changed my password, same with my sister early yesterday. We would be hacked by now if there was a Nexon database leak later on in the day. It has to be another method. FB linked->Main Accnt and possibly that sleepywood database leak coupled with idiots who got keylogged are prob making it sound a lot worse then what it is. If Nexon's database was leaked, everybody would be affected at once not a select group of individuals with similarities between others affected.

You are only asked to change your password every 3 months if you log in via the website.
And you can decline the request.
So, if you use GameLauncher exclusively, or tell the website "no, thanks" when it asks to change, you can use the same password indefinitely.

linking fb maple to real acc doesn't need your PIC so theres some other way hackers can get it, and for those hacked, was there a PIC reseter email sent to your email?
