If it wasn't for FMS, I wouldn't have been able to meet the friends I made a long time ago on GMS, or the friends I made a long time ago on Sleepywood.net. In fact, if it wasn't for FMS I wouldn't be here either. No one played FMS for the levels, they just played to interact with people they knew or already know. I left gMS a very long time ago and didn't miss it at all, and if they think by shutting down FMS they can lure me back into gMS they are sadly mistaken.

I hope the southperry mods don't get arrested too

Other than Flowsion who hosted the server and updated the source none of the other mods or admins of SP were involved in development. Fiel dev'ed for a little while before stopping and creating SP.net.

Thanks for the rundown on it. But a lolpserver is still a lolpserver. It's the player's fault for jumping ship and getting spoiled with insane rates thus destroying their GMS expectations.

In short: Don't play Private servers if you like Maplestory.

Here's a few things that you forgot to take account for.

NEXON has had a poor customer service record when it comes to MS. They have let scammers, KSing guilds, HT/Zak altar holders, PG hackers, botters, meso farm ads go, and sometimes even when the complaints reach a critical point, they still don't do anything about it. You would think that with all of the money they make from Smegas alone that they would have some form of actual customer service, yet they dont. PSes actually took care of their servers, and actually ban people who try to break the rules.

Also, I would think that a bunch of people who left for PSes left because of NEXON's poor support when it comes to them getting hacked. (And yes, there's still people who get hacked without even being at fault, look at what happened in MapleSEA for an example.) I haven't heard of cases where NEXON actually helps out people when they get hacked, and I would picture them to go as low as to banning the account to add to the misery. (Then again, I've been used to WoW for quite a bit, where there's actual customer support and GMs.)

And I don't understand the "Don't play PSes if you love MS" deal. I mean, I think that there would be more combinations to that than just the black and white you placed. There could be people that absolutely hate MS, yet play it. There's also people who like MS, but don't play, but they contribute to MS with stuff such as number-crunching and running a fansite like SP.

You may also accuse them of not being patient and wanting more of "NOW" like how spoiled children do. I would assume that 2-3 years of mistreatment by NEXON would be long enough for them to jump ship, am I right or not?

We all knew it was eventually going to happen.

I dont see how PS are "severely hurting and damaging Nexon's business"...the people who go to PS's go there because the wont spend any $$$ in GMS.

and one day I calculated and realized I've spent over 200$ on this game.

but there are reasons why some players went and play private servers

on the PS ranking that FMS is a part of, FMS has pretty much THE LOWEST rates. The next lowest that I remember was sitting at 55x for exp, which is still more than double of FMS' 20x exp. With the 20x rate, i was able to have absolute fun and level to 110 in a week. That very same level, which im at in GMS, took me 2 years to achieve, hours upon hours of playing, and it wasn't nearly as fun as FMS was. In GMS, you can't sustain a high level character without having at least 10 mil meso at all times and gaining that 10 mil is almost impossible without selling something or killing weak monsters purely for the money, on FMS, you gain more than you put in while training, making it possible to train and repot and end up breaking even.

Those are just a few reasons why GMS has fallen from being fun, getting to a decent level where you actually can have fun can take years, and that is not something you want to play.

It is a sad indictment when a PS with a handful of people run the game better than a multi million dollar corporations does.

I feel bad for Flowsion/Trunks, I knew him on gMS (on BL) when he played actively, he was a very close friend. I hope nothing bad happens, but judging by the notice, he's just going to shut it down, so which means he's not going to get sued or anything if I read it right, which is good.

As much as I'm against Private Servers (from the very start..), I don't exactly prefer Nexon either. As long as Trunks/Flowsion doesn't get sued or get arrested or any of the sort, all's good. Best of luck to you, "Trunkie" -quotes Valerie- xD.

I'm not pleased with how Nexon has been running the show lately, belive me. I haven't purchased NX in months. But I can't complain with the updates coming along. If there wasn't a GMS there wouldn't be any Private Servers. But really, you guys need to stop whining about the shut down of your servers. It was going to happen when it was first announced that Odin was being shut down. Yes, Private servers hurt Nexon's income, and yes Nexon is going to take you down.

No surprises. It's your fault for playing one and it's your own fault if you become addicted to the servers rates to the point where GMS becomes too slow to play. I don't give a damn if FMS had one of the "lowest rates." The rates are still far above normal to a person who has never touched a private perver. In the end, the only server that'll be left standing is GMS, and that's a good enough reason for me not to go to private servers.

But really, you guys need to stop whining about the shut down of your servers.

No one has posted saying "OMG THIS SCUKS NEXON SUKCS". It's just a sad event that took place.

On topic of P-servers, my Computer Networking professor (my professor for 3-straight semesters), plays World of Warcraft. This guy has like 15+ lv 70 characters on WoW (he showed me), and he plays a p-server (offline). I asked him a question in regards to private servers today after lecture:

Me: Drew, what do you think about private servers?
Drew: Well.. I mean, man, it's ok, it's good and sh`it because you get to f`uck around and do sh`it that you normally can't do. But.. it takes away the fun because personally, I'd rather experience everything and explore, ya' know? I mean, don't get me wrong, dude, it's fun and sh`it, but it gets boring after a while.
Me: I see, heh.
Drew: Yeah, oh, and hey dude, whenever you want to switch to World of Warcraft, let me know, we'll do some f`ucking raids.

Yes, that's exactly.. what he said.. But yes, even my teacher said that p-servers are stupid and boring. I'm been anti-pservers since they came out. Because a lot of them took away my friends, so I have a reason to be against it. Not so much as because you "level uber fast with pomegranate handed to your ass" or any of that pomegranate.

In the end, the only server that'll be left standing is GMS

With the private servers for WOW and other major MMOs, they never went away, basically its like they are trying to put a fire out with gasoline. They can fight all they want, but in the end, the only thing they can do is try to shut down PS' by not allowing them to use the original content from the original game, so no new content from the source will stifle the PS' and if you want new stuff, you have to play the original.

It doesn't matter if you're not purchasing NX.

Here's why:
1) If you use MTS, the tax = Nexon Profit
2) If you use MTS, then spend in CS = Nexon Profit
2) If you don't use MTS, people who buy your items take mesos out of the system = Nexon Profit
3) If you don't use MTS, people who buy your items stick it in MTS = Nexon Profit

In short, if you're playing the game, your indirectly helping Nexon make a profit.

Some friends of mine (including Fiel) asked me why I didn't play a PServer. This is exactly why. It's not like WoW's PServers where the owners bought the rights to it (and some I heard were for free xD). I didn't know the community there, and I knew it was only going to be brief compared to the years I've spent on MS. Besides, I like to experience the real thing even more, and if I didn't like it, tough luck.

Then your judgment must be blinded, or you don't want to accept the fact that this happened, or you don't actually understand. Not flaming by the way, but, if you look harder, you should see.

Heres a hint:

Maplestory is a F2P MMORPG w/ Optional Transaction. Sure you have to buy NX with real life cash for somethings, but with the features they added, if you learn to merchant, you can use the MTS for your NX. The income to keep the game up and running, for development of more content, and for the employees to put food on the table for their family, depends on the cash shop.

It really was brief. FMS started around June and Nexon is after FMS after 4 months. I can say on behalf of many players from FMS that we had a good time there. I've met many cool people and made some friends there, and even though the game has glitches and such, we had a good time. =]


in the end, we all leave MS behind,
it's only matter of time and what you want from it, I guess.
