Have you eaten rice today?

But still, why do you want to dis on high-carb food? It solves hunger, and it made Wang Lung rich! Not to mention China produces enough rice in a year to supply themselves for 7 years (at some point in history).

Rice doesn't come close to tasting good, no matter how it's prepared or what it's paired with (condiments). It's putrid. Also eating the same thing EVERY DAY is gross as hell. Even if it's good for you.

opinion.
i find it to be a tasteless food, and pending on what it comes with it can have that flavor.

though if i were to use your logic i could say much the same for potatoes; i find them disgusting, and this encompasses potatoes and potato-based snack foods.

I'm used to it by now. It really has no particular taste, imo. Then again, who am I to say? I drink "Barley Tea", something that most people probably wouldn't even touch... I like my grains and vitamins though. Delicious.

Are we talking white or brown rice? (Or both?)

I don't like brown rice too much. White's okay...needs to go with other food though.

Being Asian gives you a greater chance of eating rice on a per day basis, unless you really go out of your way to get some, marry someone Asian, or know someone Asian that will cook for you. Being white, I have a greater chance of eating noodles and potatoes and such.

Asian cuisine isn't the only cuisine which has a lot of rice in it. Tongue1

OF COURSE IT'S AN OPINION! At what point in my post did I say "FACT"? This bugs me so much. Every post made by anyone ever that isn't cited with proof is to be taken as opinion.

All rice. I've tried to like it but it makes me physically ill. The smell, the taste, even the look of it.

while it may be annoying, its your tone of usage that dictates a lot about what you said. insinuating that anyone that likes rice is disgusting is pretty heavy-handed bias. IMO a better wording'd be something like "i question the taste of people that enjoy this flavorless slop." *shrug*

A large portion of it contains rice. Other cultures, say, Hungarian, doesn't have many rice related things. At all.

Smell? Good rice has a pretty neutral, slightly sweet taste. I've never met anyone who found that plain taste of carbs offensive. Do you also not like oats, wheat, barley, etc.?

No, I love oatmeal and various wheat products. Rice does have a smell. And it's a gross one. I can't even describe it.

Rice tastes sweet when you're starving, bland on normal basis. Though I'm used to eating rice, I share Sarah's sentiment if we're talking about Red Rice.

Typical breakfast with rice:

I ate it today, I ate it yesterday and I will eat it tomorrow.

Granted, I'm an Asian.

Rice alone has bad taste, what makes the meal so great is what's on the rice.
