Yes, it's quite ridiculous. And we all know why this is. New classes = new cash shop inventories = $$$.

I bet the next batch will be a new race. Imagine Shamo's race in there, able to do any job, like cleric, for example... Or something like that.
And by GOD if they do this, I NEED A PANDA RACE. STRAIGHT FROM MU LUNG.

I feel that something is missing from that list but its a good start
On topic, I think we could use a supporter class (more supportive than bishops) that can tank or do something special and open the door way to more bosses.....

I'm glad that's why you came into this thread to post.
Waste of my time.
I'd also like to see morph class, like Devil said with Druid like stuff.
Alchemist would be nice, but maybe a rehaul of maker itself to be like LaTale's craft? 8D

I'd like to agree with this poster.
We don't need more classes, there are a lot of classes already.
What we do need is more things to do at higher levels. Currently after 4th job you only have zak, HT and PB and those are not available easily. You have to have contacts and stuff to be able to do them.
We need more PQs, training maps, quests so that 4th job doesn't become a grind fest (big bang helps with the mob level changes and stuff, cZak and cHT are nice too, we need more though).

It's not that I don't agree with that, I've had my fair share of sitting at places for forever with C-2 and the postBB Pirates.
However, I didn't create this thread for new content discussion.

I'd like a Puppeteer type class, it could be a Black Mage supporter if necessary.
It would probably be a mage, but during 2nd job you could gain the ability to hang puppet strings over mobs and control them. You could actively control one and it's magic attack would be based off your Int, and touch damage would be based on your Str, the rest would just wander around and attack other monsters, but that would be very complicated to implement.
As you progress through job advancements, you could possess monsters of greater levels and even summon bosses. At 4th job, you might be able to summon Manon, Griffey, Leviathan, Pianus and the 3 ToT Bosses (names escape me). At 3rd job, you might summon Kimera, Snowman, Elliza, King Sage Cat, Crimson Balrog. 2nd Job might grant you the ability to summon Zeno, Ninetales, Alishar, Seruf, Deo, Tae Roon and Jr. Balrog. 1st Jobbers would be able to summon Stumpy, Dyle, Mano, Mushmom and that giant zombie monkey.
They could all be the same skill, really, 7 Points in "Monster Summoning" might let you summon Dyle whiled 11 could let you summon Alishar, for example, for the sake of simplicity. Manon has more than 1 magic attack, so...yeah, I haven't thought this through.

I both agree and disagree on the claim that we don't need anymore new classes. I agree, because we do need new areas--at least first. New areas, towns, dungeons, etc. need to be the focus for awhile. However, that does NOT mean they should stop making new classes. Classes are basically the life of the game, it's what you stick with to enjoy all the content you get and right now, aside from a few exceptions, a lot of the classes are just rehashes or "upgraded" versions of other ones.
We need new classes that are brand new, in idea and terms of playability. The idea of a Druid is a good one. That would be really fun. Need to get somewhere quick? Bam, turn into a Cheetah and there you go. Your party having trouble reaching a monster high up or something? Transform into a flying creature and wreak havoc from the air above it.
I also like the idea of a Bard. I've ALWAYS loved Bard classes in games. I was extremely disappointed when Monster Hunter Tri came out and there was no Hunting Horn. I'm not sure how they'd make this class work, but if they could find a way, excellent. Being able to buff/heal/support from any place in the map with music and dance, while also still giving us the skills/ability to deal damage (they gotta level somehow, right?) would be grand. Damage wouldn't be too high, though. Imagine bringing a Bard to a high-level boss, sure, they couldn't deal out high damage, but they could sit back and serenade the room, while increasing everyone's ATK, DEF, other stats, cure, etc. the only issue, is that they'd be compared to Clerics, which are also all about supporting.
Well my Mechanic hopes have already come true, so I'm not sure what else could be added... what about a Lancer? A class that could actually make use of both ATK and DEF, where a shield is a necessity, rather than just an add on for extra damage. They could be mostly 1 VS 1, with a few mobbing attacks. Perhaps give them the ability to pierce through mobs, if they're all bundled up together. A skill that lets you bash monsters with your shield to stun them or something.

This. While I agree with the notion that we need much more CONTENT, not CLASSES, it would be nice to actually have classes that make use of items that we currently have, but are rendered obsolete by others (ex. Aran). I'd also love to see Earth and Air elemental skills on a Magician, but considering the Mage classes suck and Nexon loves their pirates and ninjas, I guarantee you that even if such a class was created it would be underplayed.

If they did things right, they would be playable. Honestly, they just need to be more creative with ideas and skills.
Like the Earth Mage could cast a spell that would encase them into a rock armor that could give them additional bonuses, or even unleash a few rock armor-only skills. Maybe have a skill that pulls a large rock in front of you and it could block long-ranged/magic attacks from monsters.
A pretty cool idea for Air Mages would be to give them the advantage to basically pull and push and essentially control the flow of mobs in a map. Maybe make it only to a certain extent, so that it wouldn't basically be a legit-way of vac hacking. They could pull all the mobs around them at a certain distance, straight to them, then hold them in place with some mobbing cyclone attack or something.

What would be the ultimate for an Earth Mage? Falling rocks doesn't make sense because that's Meteor. Would you just summon a bunch of Trees and make them fall on people?
Speaking of, there needs to be a plant-archer of some sort. The only link between Evan and Aran, the first 2 heroes is that they can communicate with their weapons (Mir and Maha), so a plant-whispering Archer would be all sorts of awesome. Bowmen are portrayed as being one with nature anyway, so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for that to be the next hero, or just another mage. They could hold down monsters with with vines, summon glowing orb that restores HP and increases attack power for those that are standing under it, have Power Stance (roots?) and/or have some kind of arrow based Monster Magnet (Vine Whip?).

kinda similar to viper's earthquake but the char wont jump, just calling the spirit of earth tumbling from underground creating earthquake to full map
Vine attack! (since plant kinda relates to earth too)
-character gives some sort of mother earth's symbol-
- vines appears from underground everywhere on the map, seizing the monsters creating damage with chances of OHKO

And? o.o
That's a 4th job skill for Warriors, for Air Mages, it'd be their entirety. A skill set that could completely revolve around controlling monsters', and their own, positions and what not. Plus I meant to pull from everywhere, above them, below, left or right, not just in front of them. Or they could push the monsters away for whatever reason.
I like the Plant-Archer idea, though. The ability to hold monsters in place for unleashing a barrage of arrows on would be lovely. Not sure what other things they could add to that, however.

My problem with the new maplestory classes is that there was hardly anything new added to them.
Dual blades still used daggers, which hardly matched their blades due to the daggers taking a circular appearance, they wore thief armor, nothing cool.
Battle mages, and wild hunters wear their respective affinity, as well as mechanics and aran, and Evan.
Seriously, where's the NEW stuff? Why can't a mechanic actually wear futuristic armor instead of pirate armor? I know pirates have the biggest liklihood of becoming mechanics but you'd think they'd have found much more useful equipment after that.
Why couldn't Evans use something other than a staff? All they do is wave it around! It would have looked cooler if he waved some kind of spell book around or something, and the spellbooks could actually have passive abilities that were meant for Evan. Why do arans use pole arms? Are those giant things REALLY the weapons a combo job should use? I mean those things are bigger than the maple sprites, yet your character is doing all kinds of flips and turbo dashing.
I think, that they should add in crimsonwood keeps jobs, instead of these dumb cygnus knights, we should have got the crimson wizards, or the storm casters, if they were going to copy the original 4 explorers, these jobs feel way superior, and how cool would it have been to have a 4th job transformation skill that transforms you into the respective PQ boss? FRIGGEN AWESOME DUAL WIELDING AXE GUY. Plus, this would develop crimsonwood keeps story more and give more reason for new Masteria areas, srs.
I think a new class needs to be an Extra Terrestial, that doesn't follow the laws of magic for any being in maplestory, no dark magic, no regular mana rules, nothing. It'd be awesome to play as an android guy(girl w.e?) that crash lands into victoria with trouble adjusting to the oxygen levels, imagine if it could have super finisher skills...okay I'm starting to reference PSO's SUV blasters, but seriously they could think of SOMETHING. Hey, maybe, make a new job that isn't human? Or an apprentice of Ridley, man...
Personally, I would like a job that uses more than one transformation for different purposes. Kind of like the pirates and albatross, but like, one transformation per job change, equalling up to 4. Like pirates, I think their jobs should branch off into a ranged and melee sub class as well, that'd be something I'd totally play.

1) I do agree that we don't need any more new classes for the time being.
2) However, just because we don't need them does not mean that we shouldn't discuss what future classes could be like in the first place. After all, it is far easier to speculate on what future classes could be like than it is to speculate on what they can do with future areas.
(Not to say that speculation about future areas is something like impossible - I did type out plans for a massive Level 10-170 quest chain with quite a number of rings, belts, pendants, and Level 150/170 weapons as rewards. The quests also lead to a new area for the 110-160 level range, and a PQ at Level 170+. However, with Big Bang's massive reshuffling of monster levels and such, the middle part of the chain is basically screwed over in terms of gameplay progression and monster HP/EXP ratios.)
---
About the classes...
- I'd like to see a Pirate with a split build. By that, I mean they either focus on magic, physical, or hybrid builds. If magical, they wield a new Rapier weapon type. If physical, they wield one-handed axes. If hybrid, they wield one-handed maces. The difference in builds doesn't just affect their damage, it also affects what type of skills they use as well. Like maybe two offensive skills per advancement are categorized as magical, while another two offensive skills are categorized as physical, and one offensive skill for hybrids (only one because Hybrids could use the other skills without much difficulty, though they obviously won't be able to inflict as much damage with those skills). Support skills will probably remain the same across all three build types, though.
(It'd probably work best as an Adventurer Gaiden class, as I don't see the Pirate Legend having this kind of build design freedom.)
- I originally had plans for the Archer Legend to be able to attack while mounted, but Wild Hunter came along. I'm really disappointed with how Nexon did Wild Hunter, by the way.
- After Wild Hunter was revealed, I drew plans a Summoner-type Archer Legend. My blog entry details what the class is like. It's on hold now due to Big Bang suddenly appearing afterwards. That nature archer sounds really good though.
