Also I take it Potential scrolls and Enhancement scrolls are tradeable?

shouri Wrote:You do NOT. The red border on an item simply means "I'm ready to be identified".

After you identify it you get a different colored border depending on if it was rare/epic/unique.

Wait wait wait.

I thought an item was rare/epic/unique depending on the item name color? Like you can find above average blue-named "rare" items from monsters, and you can scroll purple-named "epic" and yellow-named "unique" items right now?

So the color of the border around the item is actually what makes it rare/epic/unique?

If I can get a confirmation I'll edit the guide accordingly.

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys Smile I just got tired of having to go back to the maple q/a threads on these systems. So I made a notepad for myself outlining it in dummy terms, and figured I'd share it with you guys.

Editing in Cyanne's information right now.

Edit; After reading stereo's and shouri's better explanation of the "rank" system for items I'll edit the guide to reflect this Smile Thanks for making the guide better guys, I'll credit you.

Edit2;
shouri Wrote:Where was it established that higher level equips have a better chance of revealing 3 stats than lower level gear? (Same question for have higher ranks identified.)

just wanted to address that. Alot of the posts from KMS players like takebacker and such kept saying that the higher item level your equip is, the better chance you have of revealing more stats. So I took their word for it =S If you have more up-to-date info on this I'll change it.

Edit3; Disregard the top part of my post. I understand the item rank system better now, and have adjusted the guide accordingly Smile

Alright, totally ended my confusion about these systems.

Definitely only going to be using the 90% potential scroll on my good gear, and not using enhancement scrolls until I'm sure I can replace the item.

Guide has been completely updated to reflect new information from stereo in shouri =] Guide is good to go now.

I'd like a little more light shed on the star system though. I outlined the basic process of using the system, and what the system actually does, but aside from that I'm kind of in the dark. Any further help would be awesome Smile

Edit; Saw some new information posted by Kalovale concerning the star system, will update the guide with this new information Smile

Edit2; Kk, updated the guide with Kalovales information and credited. I'd like a LIVE kms picture of all the scrolls mentioned in this thread =S God bless spadow for his help, but most of his pictures are from KMST.

1. Get a piece of gear you want to scroll using the Item Rating system. If you got the piece of gear from a monster, it has a chance to come unidentified. If not, the piece of gear you have will need to be made unidentified using a 70% or 90% potential scroll. The piece of gear you want to scroll must be considered "unidentified" before you can proceed. (This sentence doesn't quite make sense. The piece of gear isn't unidentified until AFTER the scroll works. If you take this sentence out the guide will make perfect sense.) If the scroll worked, your item will be outlined in red.

Should be changed to:

If not, the piece of gear you have will need to be made unidentified using a 70% or 90% potential scroll. If the scroll worked, your item will be outlined in red. Your item must have this red border to continue to step 2.

I thought the only level 121+ gear were elemental wands? The highest level gear I've ever seen was 120, and those were reverse items. That could explain the green rank though!

Takebacker Wrote:Uh, rating would be stars, potential is enhancement...

All sources I've read have said the Magnifying Glass/Cube/Potential Stuff = Item Rating system and Stars = Equip Enhancement =S Even spadow's blog says it is, and he provided patch notes;

So what do you mean?

Rating something is synonymous with stars. Whereas with the potential system, you aren't rating the equipment, you're enhancing it through the scrolls. It doesn't make logical sense to be named the other way around.

1. 아이템 등급 시스템이 추가되었습니다.
1. Item rating system was added.

- 이제 모든 장비 아이템에 일반/레어/에픽/유니크의 4가지 등급이 적용됩니다.
- All equipment items can now be rated in four ratings, Regular / Rare / Epic / Unique.

^ Item rating/potential

3. 장비 강화 시스템이 추가되었습니다.
3. Equipment enhancement system was added.

- 이제 업그레이드가 완료된 장비 아이템의 옵션을 더욱 강화시킬 수 있습니다.
- Equipment items can be further enhanced when the number of upgrades is complete.

^Enhancement/star

-Shrug- Screw logical sense.

Thought I agree with your first sentence, it makes little sense past that. With the potential system you definitely are NOT enhancing it via scrolls. You're unmasking the item's "potential" with the magnifying glass. If the equip already comes unidentified, then scrolls will not be part of the process at all.

The only thing that gets enhanced via scrolls are the boosts from having stars on your item. That process most definitely involves/requires scrolls.

Literally every piece of equipment that exists before this update are normal. Regardless of the fact that unidentified equipment drop rarely in the wild, all previously owned equipment need to be scrolled with potential scrolls. Once the bonuses are on the equipment you can consider it enhanced, since it's stronger than before. You can't really call the rating scrolls enhancement scrolls, because it's already called rating scrolls. Thus, potential scrolls are stuck with enhancement for it's description. Get me? I know how these systems work, you don't have to reiterate it. All i'm talking about is the name(s) of the systems, not their direct function.

The word rating though involves some sort of assignment though. So it makes sense to others that the potential system involves rating items (rating it as epic/rare/unique)

The stars seem like rating, but there's no sort of assigning going on. It's more of a progession of stars than a rating involving stars.

It makes enough sense to us in our way. Likewise it makes enough sense in your way. We're basically stuck. So we'll just have to make do with what we can and what people have gotten used to saying.
