Wow, this was very helpful to me. Thank you.

Magnifying glasses are sold at potion stores. I'm not going to check EVERY single one of them, but I can tell you for sure Sleepywood Sauna sells them. There's a different one for each level group, I think.

Love this guide, it simplified everything so much.

+2 DEX and +4 wAtk, I do believe. The "something" is the same text infront of my Damage Range, as a Dual Blader.

Edit: Holy pineapple muffins the Maple Island NPC sells MGlasses.

Quote:This is an item sold by NPCs in game for mesos. This item is used on a Rare or higher rank "unidentified" item to determine what rank and what bonus stats it will have.

Quote:1. Get a piece of gear, but make sure it is at least Rare. If you got the piece of gear from a monster, it has a chance to come unidentified. If not, the piece of gear you have will need to be made unidentified using a 70% or 90% potential scroll. If the scroll worked, your item will be outlined in red.

What? You don't KNOW if something is rare or not until AFTER you identify it 0.o

So what exactly do you mean by "make sure it is at least rare".

Does an item tell you ahead of time if it's at rare or something? Something's not quite right here.

You forgot the chance of obtaining self-Skills.
- Hat for Door
- Top/Bottom/Overall for HB
- Shoes for Haste
- Gloves for SE

And concurring Shouri. A normal item -> use Potential Scroll -> normal item becomes unidentified -> use Magnifying Glass -> unidentified item becomes Rare/Epic/Unique.
Because, look at the raw material:

It doesn't say Rare anywhere now, does it? I can't read Korean for that matter, but I'm 99% sure it doesn't.

Also, you might want to add that Chaos scroll does not affect Potential bonuses in the FAQs. And that MoN is exempt from the Potential-able list, up to you though.

If it has a red box around it, you're good to go. If not, you need to Potential Scroll it.

Complicate that with jargon as you wish.

Regarding the Enhancement system, I thought the first one has a success rate of 100%, not 80%? I remember seeing that posted somewhere, and that image with 80% is from KMST.

Anyone know?

I kinda thought that the colour of the item name decides whether it's Rare, Epic, or Unique. Blue items (+6 stats) are "Rare", Purple items (17?+) are "Epic", and Gold items (40+) are "Unique".

Then how do you explain Green and Pink glows.

@ Fran: There are 2 versions, normal mob drops (start at 80% chance success, reduce progressively) and boss drops (starts at 100%).

Item Rating(potential) and Enhancement(star) System - shouri - 2010-07-18

Nope. You can get any of the three types even if you just use 100%s.

No idea. It just happened to fit the colours LiquidSwing put. And it would explain how you would know an item is "Rare" before using a potential scroll. Just following what the guide says.

The images conflict with that though, you guys are probably right.

It's the color of the border, not the name.

Oh? So you DO know the quality of the Potentials before magnifying the item. That doesn't help much though. Still nice to know. Tongue

According to the pictures, the border only reflects the rank after being identified. The clean Reef Claw has no coloured border.

You do NOT. The red border on an item simply means "I'm ready to be identified".

After you identify it you get a different colored border depending on if it was rare/epic/unique.

Oh, fantastic. I'm going to be busy bossing when this thing comes out.

But but... That's what she said!
Jk, I was thinking along the lines of "red/something/something" border. Nvm I'm dumb, it's the border after magnifying.

And yeah, I'm going to LOVE my bossing schedules when this comes out.

Common item: transparent border (ie. everything you Maker, or already exists)
Unidentified item: red border (item drops after patch, or potential scrolled items)
Rare item: blue border
Epic item: purple border
Unique item: yellow border

These depend on the Magnifying Glass luck, it doesn't matter what colour the item you use it on is. For example that Reef Claw was white, but it ends up blue bordered (rare).

Your section B is kinda misleading I think... as far as I know you use the Magnifying Glass once and it randomly identifies it. You can't use another Magnifying Glass to improve it to epic/unique. I mean what would be the point of having different grades if you can toss 3 magnifying glasses on any item and make it unique?

Item Rating(potential) and Enhancement(star) System - shouri - 2010-07-18

Quote:3. Use the magnifying glass like a scroll on a piece of unidentified gear. The magnifying glass will reveal 2 or 3 stats, and will increase the rank of your gear(from Rare to Epic, Epic to Unique, etc). No less than 2 stats, but no more than 3. Higher leveled pieces of gear have a higher chance of revealing 3 stats and having a higher rank identified

All of this needs to be looked into. The magnifying glass will definitely reveal two or three stats. It will NOT increase the item's rank. It will assign it a rank. What the chances of getting each rank are... we don't know. It will not make rare items into epic, nor epic to unique (This should be obvious since before you use a magnifying glass, you dont know the item's rank.... so how could the magnifying glass increase it?)

Where was it established that higher level equips have a better chance of revealing 3 stats than lower level gear? (Same question for have higher ranks identified.)
