Fimbulvetr Wrote:@Spaz, yeah some DDR charts are pretty bad. And is that your playing Pistolero? If so your FA is AMAZING; I can't FA for my life. I think I passed Delirium with a 68 or 58 once... I wish. My best score on Pistolero is around 90%. My best FA accomplishment is a 99.11% on McCloud Heavy from the Mungyodance 2 pack.
In regards to Touhou pad packs, I have 4 of them, with the original being the best in my opinion.
Pack recommendations are welcome. My favorites are ITG 1/2/3 (there are various "leaked" ITG 3 packs floating around), the original touhou pad pack, and Mandodo's Awesome Pack of Lovely Simfiles. The Mungyodance packs have a lot of bad files, but some gems as well.

Eh... Pump It Up! player here
I used to play really hardcore... Now I just go once a week or so. I can dance songs up to 15* in Crazy. I don't think I can go further than that. I have serious issues with ladders and stuff.

I used to be decent at DDR/Stepmania once upon a time ago. I'd like to come back to it someday.

I play DDR on Xbox/360.
One of my crowning achievements from last Spring:
[imgspoiler]http://i.imgur.com/GFSTG.jpg[/imgspoiler]
I can clear the slower rank ten challenge songs in Universe 3.
(Not me playing)

I don't get out to the arcades much at all and am much worse on those machines.

My friend used to own DDR and pomegranate and we used to play it all the time. I was pretty good at it. But as my legs got worse, I had to stop playing.
But currently I do own Just Dance 1 and 2, and plan to get 3 in October. Everyone loves the games.

I've been wondering. Does anyone know which game Konami first decided to change the AAA score from 100% to 99%?

Jw, where do you all play and how good are you? Any preferences on versions/songs? feel free to talk about whatever =)
I'm pretty much into ITG2 and R21 (custom songs). I haven't really touched DDR much since after DDRMax, although I've attempted/passed 10-footers here and there. The machine I play on is an ITG2 upgrade in fairly good condition, although the vending company that owns it sucks. They got rid of the USB ports a while back. -_- Although the machine is hacked so we loaded a bunch of songs onto it. A friend of mine also recently acquired a dedicab, but he lives almost an hour from me, so I can't play there very often.
As far as skill goes, I pretty consistently go up to 10 footers. I can do some 11's, but it depends. I'm not a perfectionist when it comes to this, sadly, so usually about half the time I'm playing sight-reads. I haven't played very much the past several months, so I've haven't been improving at all. Probably getting worse.

Hey sorry for the late response everyone but I lost power for a few days because of Irene and coupled with moving into college, Ive been a bit lazy with replies sorry lol.
@Spaz, lol your FA is still much better than mine; the highest Ive gotten is a low 96 on Civilization of Magic (hard 10; this is also good for improving stamina I think).
And hmm, been too lazy to play songs w/ USB but I will try the pad packs out sometime on
pad instead of stepmania lol.
As for pack recommendations, Im definitely not the best person to ask because I havent played that many songs. That being said, ITG rebirth is extremely popular and is used in every ITG tournament. I personally like MWOKs files in general and the Jimbo and MWOK tourney pack. I hear zimlord, flash, monsterjoe, and mandodo also have good simfiles.
@Rob, good to see a pump player =D. I started playing Pump Pro 2 at my arcade and its pretty fun. Im really bad though; I BS my way through 10s lol. And hmm, do you know if 15s are the same as 15s in ITG? Cause Pump Pro 2s difficulties are based off ITG and may be different lols. And what are ladders lol; not too knowledgeable about Pump >__>
@Ryukiroku,
DO IT, dance games are awesome
@madanthony
Oh my AAAs, never got close to getting one and probably never will lols. And cool that youre playing 10s. I recommend buying In the Groove for the PS2 or getting the songs for stepmania; it has lots of slower 10s that can help you transition into harder songs =) And if you play on arcade DDR machines they take awhile to get used to (also tighter timing windows. Many DDR machines just suck though.
@SuperNerd
Pfft my legs are uber fucked up; but I stretch like 15-20 mins each time I play and its all good. And yeah I hear Just Dance is pretty popular though Ive never played it lol.
@Tikey, I want to say Supernova 2, but if not DDR X
@sicnarf
Hell yeah r21 =D. and sucks your machine lost the USB ports. Just wondering, how does an upgraded ITG2 have USB ports in the first place though? And an hour away? Sounds like somewhat of a hassle but it is a dedicab =D. Those are amazing! And push yourself and youll improve!

DDR and Stepmania player here, DDR is the only one for me none of the ITG or PIU crap. I recently bought a USB dance pad, but it's back in NC waiting for mom to ship it back to me here in Texas. Love rhythm games so much, always wanted to get into BeatMania but it's so much harder. '
I played StepMania online with Luchlove(Rob) a few times, he's really good.

I don't play PIU Pro :< It's a westernized version of what PIU is... the music is nothing like the Korean version and the engine runs on Stepmania 4. Here at the local arcade we have 2 machines, an NX Absolute and an NX2. We're kinda behind on releases, since Fiesta EX has been released already and before that there was Fiesta.
Anyway, the difficulty is different, since PIU Pro rates songs in a 15* scale and PIU rates songs in a 20*+ scale. For example, I can play 14* and 15* like Hi-Bi or Fly getting Bs or Cs:

Ladders are those Down-Left, Up-Left, Middle, Up-Right, Down-Right streams in different directions.

When I tried to get my XBox 360 USB mat working with my computer for StepMania, I bluescreened my computer and gave up after a while. It's still in test mode for unsigned drivers, but I just couldn't get it going. :<

I play Stepmania with a gamepad and whenever I run into one, DDR in arcades, but best I can do is Light on both. I'm not very good, lol.

Well to be fair, ~1/3 of the songs in Pump Pro are from the original games, and I play it cause its the only Pump machine in my area that I'm aware of. Cool that you have 2 machines of the same game, it must be pretty popular where you are!
And thanks for clarifying the difficulty and patterns =). And I'm terrible at patterns myself; crossovers and streams are definitely much harder in Pump than ITG/DDR lol.

Any reason you don't like ITG or PIU? And music games are awesome; hope you enjoy playing on your USB pad =). And oh man Beatmania looks sooooo ridiculous haha, maybe I'll play it after I become good at ITG lols

That's a shame your pad doesn't work with Stepmania :/ Couldn't get my Redoctane or Flux to work well with Stepmania either. and cool song

Well, A, B, X, and Y worked as directional arrows as if you were playing the game with a controller, but that was quite irritating. I also could not do freeze arrows with them.

Yeah, DDR doesn't even exist here. PIU was always way more popular. It's died lately though... There was a time when you could see PIU The Prex 3/Extra EVERYWHERE. Like in every single arcade.

Oh wow ITG/DDR is way more popular here in NJ than PIU. Would you mind saying where you live?

Haha, I live in Argentina, across the world. PIU machines are cheaper than DDR machines. Do the math xd

o__O Didn't know PIU was cheaper than DDR; the pads are better IMO. And oh okay that makes sense; I don't think PIU is all that popular in America in general.
