Lag Spikes

I get the lag spikes on my Windows 7 PC, but not on my Windows XP, which is a far, far less powerful computer...very strange. O.o

So has anyone found a solution to this on why one computer was and the other wasn't.

Not my internet maybe a windows problem. Hopefully not since technically windows suppose to be compatible with maple. Anyone any luck with any other os?:f6:

I doubt that anyone has discovered anything. Not that many people have this, and those that do are either living with it or quit for a while hoping Nexon or someone else will find the answer.
The problem is not limited to any one version of windows. I have it on XP SP3, PhoenixWright has it on Windows 7.

Some of the descriptions sound similar to what is happening now. At the time some were able to fix it by disabling Vsync somehow in their video card setups. I have an old ATI card, and don't have that option to try.
I have wasted a lot of time on this. I have disabled antivirus, firewall and everything else possible until task manager only showed 15 processes total, including itself and 'system idle process', but still had the freezeup every 15 seconds.
My guess is that some element of the game (perhaps hackshield) is waiting for some reply from the system, and the system is taking its sweet time responding. Meanwhile all other functions of the game are locked.
Can't use process explorer for clues, because hackshield thinks its a hack tool. I wonder if any hackers have the problem and if it goes away when they disable or bypass hackshield. It wouldn't be suprising if this problem (and many others) are an unfortunate side effect of Nexon's efforts to stop hackers.
Interesting that some WoW players had a similar problem a while back. In fact lag/freeze/stutter "every 15 seconds" seems to be a common problem to various games and programs in general.

Things I have yet to try:
Replace video card.
Upgrade memory from 1.5G to 2G
Disable audio or replace drivers.
Downgrade DIrect X to version 8
Remove router and link computer directly to internet modem.
Total delete and reinstall MS (Ugh, would take all day to redownload, and I doubt it would help).
Buy new hard drive, reinstall windows and everything else (would take ages, be better off just to...
Buy new computer (if unlucky, might have same problem right out of the box)
Quit

The lag and frequent disconnects have made it virtually unplayable. I live on the East Coast and use Cablevision's Optimum Online as my ISP, and I've noticed that there's been an overall decline in net speed with Maple suffering the worst of it. I wonder if it's an ISP specific issue?

I swear I have been disconnected atleast 9 times today.

This seems to have gotten worse with the new patch. At times, my Windows 7 PC can barely do anything on maple, and it happens far more often than 15 seconds.

My XP is still working 100% fine with maple.. -_-

May be worse. Now not only the big freeze every 15 seconds, but also the video seems jittery much of the time. Either they made it worse, or one of the many things I changed to try to get rid of the main freeze made it worse. I think the CPU usage is even higher now, often hitting 100% even though I have all the anti-virus stuff disabled.


Other clues that I have run across:
In a thread on SW (in one of the EMS world forums) someone mentioned that they had the problem for EMS, but not for GMS on one of their computers. If this is true it would imply that the problem has do with what is in the MS directory or else in the registry settings, since everything else should be the same for running EMS or GMS (right?)

Someone else did a complete reinstall of windows and MS with minimal other stuff installed and no AV or firewall, and the problem was worse than before.

I think I found a fix for this, but sadly the means of fixing it are not so legitimate.

Nonetheless, I'm doing it until Nexon fixes this, because I want to play D:

EDIT: I theorize this might fix the problem of Vista/W7 users D/Cing on bosses, as well. I have yet to test that, though.
