Every 10 secs are so the game will lag for a split second. At first i thought it was my computer so i restarted but then realized that it is maple itself. In no other game do i lag. Nexon said there was a problem with east coast Isp but i doubt it was that since other players are lagging as well that live on the west coast closer to their headquarters. I never lag in any patch till this one. It gets to the point where as i actually train less efficiently now.

I timed it. It's every 15 seconds for me. Like clockwork.
It makes it very difficult to do jump quests.

Indeed, 15 seconds exactly, for me and others who have checked.
It's the client itself, not network or server, because things get paused that the client handles by itself (like skill animations, item drop animations, walking, etc). It also can't be the local computer because we can't all have the same external program kicking in every 15 seconds to hog the CPU. (Task manager shows nothing but MapleStory.exe taking up significant CPU at any time, btw)
They must have added some kind of timed processing that takes place every 15 seconds, but it's way too heavy and causes a noticeable hiccup in the game. Very, very annoying.

It's kind of annoying when you're jumping and you lag, only to realise that you just hit the bottom.

Okay, I do see what you guys are saying. It was not very noticeable for me. It took a long time for me to notice. To me, it doesn't affect anything. :S But I suspect the lag varies depending on computer specifications. Maybe defraging your hard drive or running maple from a USB stick (one that reads/writes faster than your hard drive) would help.

I'm getting this too, very badly. Almost a second freeze-up every 15 seconds. It seems to only affect some people, and some much worse than others.
It is also not just GMS, see EMS players complaining about same problem:

It is definitely client related. I see the freeze even on the login screen before typing in name and PW. The freeze also often causes the PIC entry to fail.
The 15-second bit makes me think it is something to do with Hackshield waiting on some system response and freezing up the video and user inputs in the meanwhile.
I have tried disabling antivirus, different screen resolutions, deleting all non-essential processes, but nothing helps.
The problem is related to CPU usage. Usage goes to 100% during the freeze-up.
I think I had some of the lag (maybe 100-200ms) since the Aran patch, but learned to live with it. But now since the Evan patch it is unplayable.
Admittedly, my computer is old and slow, but I have seen others with new fast computers complain too.
At above: Bad hard disk should not be an issue, since the problem occurs like clockwork every 15 seconds even when doing nothing, not during disk accesses.
Specs: XP on 2.4GHz P4 (Northwood), 1.5G memory, internet thru wired link to Linksys router

I'm saying it could minimize the laggage, since everyone's getting different degree of lagging, improving overall performance of your computer would decrease the lagging to a minimal, just my theory though.

Nope not my harddrive ran maple from high speed usb its from maple itself. Ran maple from a 1tb hdd and a Solid state 80 gig hdd on windows 7 64 bit ultimate 4.2 quad. Its client and side like everyone is saying and if your not doing anything in maple of course you don't notice it. Since I didn't til I started training.

People are observing 100% CPU usage, though, which would not be the case if it was I/O related.
I'm guessing the different degree of lagging depends mostly on one's computer speed.
Certainly for me, my older computer has it much worse than my newer one.

Since the Evan patch, and seeing nothing on this, I thought I was the only few people with this problem, guess not. Yes, I also timed it just now, 15 seconds every spike as well.
Funny thing is, two computers in my room have this spike, but another computer in the same house but next room only had spikes for about 1.5 days and is not spiking anymore.
Well, here is hoping that the upcoming Server Check will remedy this problem.

Can you think of anything on the spike-free computer that was installed, uninstalled, upgraded that might have made the difference? Is it a faster machine? Different version windows? Different antivirus or firewall? Anything else different that might matter?
Strange that many don't have the problem at all, but others have it on multiple machines. I fear that Nexon will not care about this since it seems that it only affects a small fraction of players.

Ive also been getting these lag spikes, both on my Netbook with an atom proc with 2 gigs of ram, and my 17 incher with a core 2 proc and 4 gigs of ram. The two partitions on my netbook are less than 80% used (theres ~80% free space on both), and my 17 incher should still have ~75% free space. This has to be a client issue conflicting with other software, or even hardware.
17 incher = Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
Netbook = Windows XP SP 3 (not sure if 32 or 64 bit)
17 incher = nVidia graphics with ~256 MBs dedicated RAM
netbook = Intel 950 GMA with 128 MBs of RAm (most likely shared).

New day and same stuff. I doubt this will be fixed anytime soon since they made even more mistakes with sc. Nexon needs to read what they copy and paste and take out the check in the box when it says do you wish to to do this for all items.
