Well, it's less that they make them up, and more that they let their crazy reasoning (because seriously, every religion looks strange if you're not a practitioner) affect those who don't practice their religion. Considering the US has been around for a good 250 years, we really should have actually implemented the whole "separation of church (beliefs) and state" thing by now.

You know, I would probably chose to be gay if I could. All the gay people I've known are hilarious, fun, and degrees of magnitude more fashionable.
