It isn't skill. It's dealing with a delay, running away in time to HOPEFULLY find pots to heal yourself before you get raped (luck), and spamming your best skills (read: annoying) against enemies who hopefully can't do a thing about it.

Sounds like lots of balancing needs to be done. They always do get around to it....
@gear based
I work hard for my gear too but.. man... there are some people so godly out there its beyond whatever time and money i'd spend on this game lol. And if the difference in funding can be so big to where the most godly funded can kill someone in a hit, than it would also be unbalanced.
So I for one, am thankful for a "pre-set" or "standardized" mode where all damage and stats are preset (that *SHOULD* revolve more around skill*. However, as it seems right now, some classes are just broken in on direction or the other.
I was hoping pvp to be something like super smash bro's. But I guess its far from that currently lol.

lol this is so funny first people are saying "mages suck 'cuz of CD" now with PvP people are going to go back on their mages (at least for the emblems).
Well I guess this kind of balancing could mean that I can still go with my first thought of making my BM an alchemist since it seems that every other class besides mages are pretty much on the same ground.

Some of it does involve skill. I did Hero and Pally.Magic Crash, Shout, Threaten, Coma and Panic all play a vital part in staying alive. I remember many times when i was facing off with someone and we were just spamming Interprid Slash hoping he would die first, but i used Shout and it stunned him then I used Magic crash which made him lose all his buffs. Then he died. PvP requires skill to stay alive, not just luck. Running only works for Thieves and Mages. As for everyone else running isnt that helpful, especially if you lag. I will admit its pineappleing annoying when your about to kill someone and they run away. But you can also stop that with certain skills. PvP DOES require skill, people will learn that the first day, I know there are going to be people who go to PvP the first day hoping to just spam their best move and win. But that won't happen. I can't speak for all jobs though. As for warriors, it will take more than just to spam skills if they want to WIN.

I've used an MM and an F/P for PvP. For the most part, I agree that a lot of adjustments and balancing needs to be done. I know it's pretty hard when all classes are different.
Maybe it's just Tespia or lag, but some attacks have delays and others don't... For MMs, ultimate strafe+snipe is a very deadly combo because they can be spammed relatively quick, hitting so much damage, and all at once without interruption. Add in the occasional freeze and blind, that makes them almost unable to hit you. This kills almost any other classes except for A/Ms and warriors. Which most of the time, I always lose to.
That's nothing like an F/P though. I've tried an F/P on it, and I do find them to be very rigged despite with all the small cooldowns and delays with their debuffs. When you are able to get them all able to work, you've pretty much won, because they're unable to do anything at all. Seal, slow, constant stun from teleport mastery, and freeze with poison with paralyze, and more DoT from fire demon if needed... Teleport mastery and paralyze can also be spammed relatively quick. It's impossible to escape all that unless you're lucky enough for those things to not to hit you.

Fixed for you.
It's not skill, it's skills. Roar, crash, magnet, seal, stun, these are skills you get for your class. Spamming them on other classes that don't have skills like that isn't called skill. If it were an even battle field, 1v1 with two classes have the exact same everything, and one of them was winning more often, i'd attribute that to skill. But that's not how pvp here in maple is.

Pretty sad on what Maple has turned into.
All I read in this topic was "I deserve to be catered to, because I spent money on this game! I want to one shot poor players now! NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW!"

You cant have the same exact everything, every class has its pros and cons, some more than others, that's where Nexon needs to work on balancing PvP.

Hopefully that'll be the case in the 180+ area. Although I think they could've lowered the level req down to like 160+.

No, if anything, they should have made it level 200. What you guys don't realize is having everyone's damage be fixed is the best possible way you can balance PvP without making the number of hits be based on how hard to mash your keyboard, instead of how many hits each skill does.
It's even funnier when you guys think you'll have a shot at doing anything in PvP at the 180+ area. Have fun getting destroyed by DBs and NLs.

If i step foot into the 180 area, i am going to be torn apart regardless of class encounters. Everyone 180+ is stronger than me, except for ONE person, and because she is a bowmaster, she is going to win anyway.

Cooldowns get reset upon death and entrance of the PvP map, so it isn't much of a limitation. (except time leap for some reason)

Have you not seen some of the super weak people at cvp? Not all 180+ are super strong. Not even close. Again, like someone said about me, because you hang around Contagious peeps it gives a different perspective on the high level scene.

That's certainly true. But i'm weak even for contagious. The only reason i consider myself a benefit to runs is because of auto-KB from barrage and party buffs. The vast majority of people who are 180+ who i have actually seen do damage, both in our boss groups and in places like varsity and other places, imo out damage me. Even if attack is normalized, the only reason that is the case is because they have a higher %stat than me, so potential PvP i'm convinced i won't do well in.
But like i said earlier, i haven't PvP'd on the official server with my character, so i could very well still destroy and get 200+ battle points per round, but that probably won't happen.

I agree with Dark Link on this one. Nexon has to cater to the majority(weak) players or PvP just won't be remotely enjoyable for anyone but the super strong. If stats counted in PvP it would further alienate poor players and the rich players would just get richer by hoarding all the BP. High level players should probably have a skills advantage though, a 13x marksman probably won't know blind while a 19x one probably will.

I know, dead thread and all, but I just realized something.
Does +% stat really have that much of an impact on high level PvP? Might be a bit too early to jump to conclusions considering that we don't even know how stats work in PvP in the first place. I'm thinking that potential PvP is probably more about people having stuff like Seal, Stun, and Ice on their weapons.

Given it's already been established that stats and HP have no effect even in the 180+ room, it's probably safe to say it only non-stat related potential effects make any real difference.
