Don't be an MM.

You bandwagoner.

Wait a sec. There's a MM bandwagon? From what I've seen, everyone's just flocked to Wild Hunters, not marksmen...

If you can i'd make as many gears with adv. str crystals. (Overall+shoes) Just from my shoes and overall i have 30 str. It's rather inexpensive now that the item maker crystals have deflated a fair bit.

This might be a little late, but whatever.

I'm a bowman freak. I have a regular bowmaster lvl 130 and a wind archer lvl 120, both with base str of 74, which is way too much.
I'm now playing my ultimate explorer, who is a 114 ranger with 34 base str.

Bowman get most of their damage from dex. So the more dex you have, the better. Less points in str = more points in dex = more damage. So ideally, you want no strength. If you want to go str-less, then you need str equips, the more str you have on your equips, the less you have to put into your stat window. BUT, if you think about it, you have your equips loaded with str, but not with dex. So, having points in your stat window and on your equips has no difference. The only variable is that equips are subject to change, while the points in your stat window cannot be (without spending money). So what I'm saying is, if you have really good dex equips, it's better to put some points into str and wear those equips rather than sacrifice equipment space for str equips.
Example: You have red shoes that give you 3 str and you need 3 more str to equip your crossbow. You also have blue shoes that give 20 dex, but no str. Are you going to wear the red shoes so you can go str-less or are you going to pump those 3 points into str so you can have your crossbow and the blue shoes? It comes down to the total stats given.
Now, obviously you aren't going to have your end game equiment laid out so you can plan all this, so the best option is to go str-less, you can always add points later.

Here are some tips to go str-less:

The key really is potential bonuses. You also have to consider what your end game weapon is going to be. Mine's a dark nisrock, so I only need my str to get to 105 (I scrolled it pretty ridiculously).

There are obviously token equips that you would have such as a zhelm, pendants, rings, etc., which all give significant boosts to all stats. I'd say, for your other equips, hunt a couple of monsters that drop bowman stuff and collect some with hidden potential. My total str is 109 (base 34) and alot of it (30+) is from hidden potential bonuses. I put 30 points into my str only because I was impatient. You can constantly look for better potential bonuses that don't necessarily have to be unique or epic (I found a green arcina with +15 str, rare). The only cost of doing this is the pots required for hunting, and maybe a couple hundred k if you see someone in fm selling something with str potentials.

Another thing you can do is scroll. Str scrolls are relatively cheap (I think) and you can do quests for them too. Scroll your cape, overall, earrings, and whatever with str and that should give you a significant amount too.

Making items is another option, but I wouldn't recommend this. First, it's a hassle trying to find all the resources required to make an item. The crystals are pretty easy to find, but I'm pretty sure they made magic powders not drop anymore and I don't see them being sold in fm or anywhere else (then again, I play Yellonde, the ghost town server). Also, a basic crystal only gives +2 stat. If you're lucky enough to produce some intermediate crystals, they're still only +3. And chances are you won't make any advanced, which still only give +5. I say "only 5" because this is on par or worse than what a potential bonus can give you and you can find potentialed items from just regular hunting/grinding all the time, which is much better than looking for the individual items needed to make the item. You don't want to have spent time making a glove with +5 str and then go hunting and find one with +10 str potential bonus later and then kicking yourself.

Also, I don't know if you keep up with the kms updates, but the Jump! update just came out, and a new skill is introduced in the archer restructuring portion (Physical Training). At max lvl (10), it permanently increases your str and dex by 30 each. The update probably won't hit gms for a while (people are saying at the earliest probably in september, since we haven't even gotten the chaos update yet), but it's still something to keep in mind.

But yeah, ideally, if you can get your hands on all the maple weapons, which isn't too hard right now, and then eventually a VIP crossbow, then you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Good luck!
