I currently play both MS and WK.
WK is indeed better than MS, has small things refined...less dependence on spending Gcoin(think NX cash). You can also get Gcoin for free by doing these weird surveys on the website lol.
The quests in WK are genuinely skill based and not just GRIND FOR 9000 HOURS IN TEMPLE OF TIME. Though, the skill portion of the quests aren't that much harder than MS, but at least it's different.
Back in the day I used to play RoseOnline, was fun but it went to P2P and lost a lot of players. Still a good game, 8 dollars a month I think.

If you're still into playing free games and your laptop sucks, you can try playing Imagine Online: megaten.aeriagames.com
Its formal name is something like Shin Megami Tensei Imagine Online or something to that effect. If you've ever heard of the Persona series for PS1 or PS2 then you'll know what this game is kinda about.
It's a very high quality game considering that it's FREE, plus it's 3D. Its combat system is fairly simple at first, but can get very complicated later on. Craploads of skills to customize your character, you can go out and capture monsters are your persona and summon them to help fight for you(like pokemon lol).
Best of all, you get to use guns to kill monsters like cute snowmen!

You can also of course play the ultimate MMO: World of Warcraft, I've been able to play this game with the crappiest PC. The game itself has low requirements. It's a very good game full of content that you probably won't ever get bored with if you play like 2 hours a day. It gets rough if you start raiding
hardcore at 16 hours a week. Or you can just play casually, best community out of any game I have ever played online. I haven't really experienced hacking in the game, just small things to do with botting, which affects no one really.
The game has little inflation due to gear repairs and other ways to drain your money. Believe me, not many ppl in wow have ever hit the money cap, which is supposedly set at something ridiculously high like 300k gold.

Finally, the last free game that I really like is Infantry online developed by Station Sony or whatever it's called. It used to be free, then P2P, now it's free again. It's one of the most fun I had in a game, you can play the rpg style of overhead style of controlling your character where kills nets you cash and exp points to change classes. Bullets have inertia and you have to aim ahead to hit your targets, a good game to play when MS is on updates or you just want like 30 mins of fun.

TL;DR version list of games:
-Wonderking
-Rose Online
-Imagine Online(highly recommended, one of the few japanese developed free mmos)
-World of Warcraft
-Infantry Online(worth a look)
P.S. Don't play Rising Force online or Aion, those games look nice but are just terrible grinders at heart.
EDIT: If you want to have a good laugh, check out Stone Age 2 online LOL. I always wondered where Stone Age 1 online was.
