Yep, got perma IP banned for buying a 100 chaos scrolls. I had 70k NX lying around and I've been bored with maple. So I figured I'd take my chances. No regrets BTW.
Anyhoo, I'm not interested in leveling yet more characters and maple has only gotten more broken over the years. (I've been playing since beta)

So, what other games would you recommend?

Free to play isn't a must but if it is, any cash shop type feature should not give significant advantages. My laptop isn't great, so 2D before 3D games.

Life. I promise, it's not so bad.

Sometimes, it is better to move on and not play anything at all. It's better to not get others to assist you. If you find a game that you enjoy, great. Don't bother looking for one, imo. Games are a waste of time, and though I play MMOs, I am not proud of it.

But doesn't that involve going outside sometimes? pineapple that pomegranate, that would ruin my pasty white complexion.

In all seriousness, it really depends on what you enjoy in terms of games. You could always pick up another hobby of sometime too (sports or something, not sure).

Games are my way of relaxing. I'm one of the oldest maple players, I have a full time job, I get plenty of exercise. So the 2 hours a day of gaming are my way of kicking back. I've played many other MMOs and if my laptop was stronger I'd play darkfall, WoW, aion, etc.

Wonderking has been fun, though it gives off a vibe of pre-4th job MS, you might get bored if you play too long.

I've heard good things about laTale.

You could always try Dungeon Fighter Online, but that is still run by Nexon.

why look for alternatives...maplestory is the best 2D platformer there is imo

Just suck it up and retart from scratch, it will be painful but that's how everybody started

You can't blame nexon for banning you when you indeed violated their TOS

As for IP bans there are TONS of ways to get around it

Looking for MS alternatives - alwzn4vr - 2010-03-16

Frankly, I'm not concerned about getting around the IP ban. That's easy enough if I wanted to. I've played so much maple that I'm ready for something better. And I don't blame Nexon, I knew full well that buying 100 chaos scrolls might get me banned. I kinda expected it since they get a lot of other things wrong.

AirRivalz is the only other MMO I've played. It amused me for a month and a half or so. My roommate played for ~2 years quite extensively. If you can get into the community at a decent level, they do some interesting server wide CTF/Destroy the Mothership type stuff regularly.

LaTale is good, but to get past 70 or so the grind can be pretty harsh, even by a Mapler's standards, and that game's form of 2x tends to be just as if not more costly than maple 2x...yikes. You can, however, pick up a pet for fairly cheap, and some cash items are tradeable in-game, so if you can play the market you can play for free (I think you still have to pay for pets though, but it's a one-time cost except for minebot iirc).

Haven't tried WK. Been playing WoW since my friends perma-quit MS due to Nexon's numerous inexcusable follies. If you can play, it comes highly recommended from myself and several friends who played MS for years. $15 a month isn't bad, just a pain to get the full game to start. You can always download the 10-day free trial to give it a shot.

Oops. I forgot the fact that Nexon applies IP bans to all of their games.
