[PopTag!] Nexon America is out of their minds..seriously..

Fumni Wrote:Guys, you really aren't getting what Pavel is saying.

Take, for example, this weasel poop drink.

Yes, it actually contains weasel poop. And people drink it. And they pay to drink it. They pay a lot to drink it.

You have to understand that under a free markey economy, eventually there will be someone who buys anything, simply because they have the money to spend, and it is their choice to spend it. If you don't believe me, then go to an auction. Something is only worth as much as someone is willing to spend for it.

He is also right as well: you can get NX for free by using the MTS. Pavel isn't arguing that everyone should pawn off their items in the MTS just to get temporary items. He is saying that it is your choice whether you want to buy those items or not and how you spend your money, and you also have the choice to acquire NX in game via MTS if you absolutely wanted it, but didn't have the money to spend it in real life.

Most of you have already voiced your opinion that this is very expensive and ridiculous scenario, but where there is a will, there is a way, and if the game gets a large enough sample of players, you'll eventually see X % of them buying these items at the high premium, simply because its their money to choose to spend.

Oh, the weasel-thing. Yeah, yeah, heard about it. I used to live in Vietnam, so I know all about this too. It's supposedly very dark coffee that's incredibly strong, I'd like to try it some day. -shrug-

DualReaver Wrote:I completely agree with this idea, and what Conciente said, but I find the arguement that someone who plays PopTag, and has never played Maplestory before, would understand the idea of going into an entire other game and devoting time to getting stuff there so they can get NX. That is an illogical arguement, because unless you're already playing Maplestory, you probably won't even know the MTS exists.

I agree, it is illogical (in my opinion.) It's as illogical as renting virtual items for a high premium. But the option is there.

One thing is certain: Nexon could make a heck of a lot more money on PopTag if they lowered the cost of their items.

Nexon is a smart company. They know how to extract money from its customers. I'm sure they'll adjust the pricing to maximize sales.

This. ANOTHER possible reason I see is that it's possible to make "cash" ingame, only working for that game. If I remember correctly, I believe you could get it from races, even though at a ridiculously slow pace. If that's the case, maybe the money is only needed to aid you on that.

Of course, it now depends on the balance they have on that... 10 days still seem ridiculously short, unless it's a "preview" product.

MTS is "free" in monetary sense only. The time I spent for MTS is the time I wasted on not doing something else. There is a steep requirement for entering MTS, that is you need to have items that people want. On top of that, you need to pay hefty tax as well. MTS is a trading system, period. You cannot trade nothing for something.

Again, you are missing the point. The point isn't to say that it would be the best option or the sanest, but that the option is there. You cannot refute that you can put items in the MTS, earn NX, and with the same account spend the NX on items in Pop Tag. Complain all you want, but given the law of averages, someone will try this, and someone will pay the high premium, because the choice is there. I personally won't be doing this, but to deny that it couldn't occur is just foolish.

or nexon will abandon poptag in a few month time like how they abandoned kartrider seeing that nothing is selling.

This thread has misled too many people. The game currently does not have a cash shop. The 9,500 on the item you saw is using Lucci, the in-game currency, which is quite easy to obtain. Anyone else who has played, correct me if I'm wrong.

The game's also really fun, so I recommend playing it.

^yea, you're right.

I just played for 1 hour, being a complete noob and only have like 30% winning rate.
I earned 40 lucci the Lucci are dropped in the game, there's ones that gives 20 lucci and ones that gives 50 lucci, the drop rate is about 1/ game, but then you can have up to 8 ppl in 1 game.

Well the lucci drops are from 10 Lucci - 500 Lucci. Sometimes there are events that give 1000 Lucci as well. In monster mode, you get 200 Lucci for popping the boss, and there is likt 5 sec to get a bit of lucci.

Conciente Wrote:Okay, better example: food expires when you take a pomegranate... How much do you spend eating for 10 days? More than $9.5? Then this is fair.

[color="red"]Do you eat your NX clothes? Pixels are nomnom? :f6:

Although these prices are retarded, even for Nexon, it's to be expected...if I recall, they already make you pay 2,000 nx for four hours...so...2x6x10 =...$120 for 10 days of 2x, though you could argue clothes doesn't do pomegranate for your character..

Except you can get those same 120 hours with only $19.50 (30 day 2x EXP card). Biggrin

Care to explain why you think Nexon isn't a smart company? An organization's top priority is to gain profits. Clearly they gain a lot of money from NX, so I don't see how you think they aren't smart.

It looks more like 9500 Lucci to me.

This thread should probably be locked for being wrong. I've played this game as well, and during beta they obviously wouldn't be selling cash items. The items featured on the main page can be bought with in-game currency.
