Tales of Bataille [Wii]

Bad voice acting, messy plot, useless additions (Monster system, you get every old ToS player(besides Kratos) back in your party, and monsters don't even come close in terms of strenght), they pineappleed up Unison attack, made it worse, Hi-ougis/mystic arte's are crap, bad overall graphics, ABSOLUTE lack of cutscenes. I think there's a few more but that's enough right?

Ouch. Guess it was a lot worse lol
Would it still be recommended to a Tales fan? =[

Roxas Wrote:Seriously, if this game looks so good, why does ToS2 look like absolute pomegranate?? Does not compute.

Dawn of the New World had a fairly low budget due to the fact that Vesperia was being developed at the same time (that, and it wasn't a Mothership title).

I haven't played ToS2 yet though since it's not out in Europe. Not sure if I really want to either, considering what people have been saying about it. This new one definitely has me more interested.

Also, while I haven't experienced any of the new Free Run battle systems present in newer Tales games, I've watched a few videos of them... Am I the only one who vastly prefers the way the old battles looked? (I can't say anything about how they play, as I haven't tried any yet). Tales of Symphonia's battles looked good... the battles in newer Tales games, not so much. That's just my opinion from watching videos though -- maybe that will change when I actually get to play a Tales game with Free Run.

(Maybe I'm just biased. I've only played Phantasia and Symphonia. >_>)

Ah so thats it, they couldnt afford to give Emil a personality, or a fancy overworld map.

That's their own mistake, making 2 games at the same time on a low budget is dumb, they should've just waited until Vesperia was done and then make ToS2. The only reason that game sold so much is because it had the name "Tales of Symphonia" in it anyway, it's that simple.

The free run system is fun, believe me. I hated how the battlefield was 3d and I could only walk in 2 directions, playing Abyss was a whole new thing for me with the Free Run system.

To above poster : His VA is good, but just not in this game. He was a good VA in Tales of The Abyss(Guy), though.

Oh I wasn't talking about his voice actor, I mean how his personality was overall. Having a main character thats scared to do everything, and really timid and all that, while it may work for some games, in this one it just annoyed me to no end, I wanted to slap Emil upside the head for half the game.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I agree completely that making a sequel with a low budget was a dumb move; I was simply stating why the game didn't look very good.

Also, I'm sure the Free Run system is fun - I was just saying I liked the looks/graphics/art style/whatever of Symphonia-esque battles better.

That's what I thought until I played Abyss, or if you're in Europe you could wait for Vesperia (much like I am :/)

The name of this game bothers me. >_>
Bataille reminds me of braille, and sounds like a horrible play on the word battle... or perhaps a combination of both.

They changed it to Tales of Grace, guessing that Bataille was too French, lol.
