A problem I noticed is what about people with allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, and/or legumes. Those people would lose out on protein which is vital to the human bodies, and saying eating eggs as a substitute doesn't change anything because the video also points out the cruelty in the egg industry.
Also, for a personal note, about 80% of my meals consist of meat and I already eat less than I should. Cutting out meat would really harm me... plus I can't stand the taste of vegetables.

I've wandered into local ones and found nothing wrong with the treatment of the chickens, cows, goats, etc. Products made by Hood and the like are 90% of the time from farms that support cruelty, but products from yer local farmer's market are usually cruelty-free.

i remember asking one of those vegans at the festival about bio-food and freeterm eggs and all that stuff, and she told me that it maybe not as bad as industrial food, but it still involves a level of cruelty beyond killing..
i dont remember why exactly but it wont surprise if its true, for instance, we dont know what the hell is going on at those farms.. amirite?

1) What are the pros and cons of cutting out meat from your diet?
Pros: It's healthier
Cons: No moar meat D:, and if you don't do a vegetarian diet right, you're gonna get weaker due to a lack of protein
2) What are the pros and cons of living off of crops and fruits for the rest of your life?
See above
3) Have we gone too far in satisfying our need to feed?
If it's lead to abuse of animals, yes
4) Is eating meat such a necessity? If it is, does that mean these acts (shown in the video) are justified?
Meat isn't a necessity, but it's in high demand. Even if it was, cruelty to animals is never justified (unless testing things on humans is lethal)

1. You can eat nuts and stuff for protein.
2. See above.
3. What is the line of abuse to animals?
4. Sure.

- keeping calves, cattle, infantile sheep, and breeder sows in cages that can barely contain themselves

- keeping birds of huge numbers in a very tight space filled with their own waste for the majority of their lives
- carelessness of a large number of farmers, in general
It's sickening to think that you could be convicted of a dozen counts of rape and still be treated more humanely than most farm animals are. Most of this pomegranate we're doing is very illegal in quite a few other countries (mostly in the UK).
Though don't mistake me, this doesn't pertain to all farms.

I would assume that the UK (and most of Europe) have different ways of treating cattle and other farm animals because BSE was most prominent there.

True, but when you also look at their laws on animal abuse (and those pertaining to farm animals), you may believe that disease isn't the only reason, as I do.

Again, leaving the person allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, and legumes in a protein-less life (excluding the use of pills but the protein in those has to come from somewhere).

If you're allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, and legumes and you don't feel like stuffing down pills then I don't think it would be a very good idea to go vegetarian.

People keep saying there are alternative ways to get protein and all, but almost everyone that eats meat, eats it because it tastes good, not so that they can get their daily intake of protein. If you really want to send a message, you can put pictures of animals in pain at slaughter houses on packages of meat, like what they do with cigarettes, but then people who eat meat, like people who smoke, won't really care.
But that's why there's heart attacks. It's god's revenge for eating his furry animal friends.

4) Is eating meat such a necessity? If it is, does that mean these acts (shown in the video) are justified? 1) Meat is a necessity in diet. Unless your vegetarian diet is well designed, you're going to be very nutrient deprived if you do not eat meat.
2) Same question as number 1?
3) No. Without that, our meat prices will soar, and that's something we don't need right now with the economic crisis.
4) The problem with this video is that it shows the worst parts (as with most propaganda) of the agricultural industry. The only parts that disturbed me was the castration without the painkillers to the adult cow (which should have been castrated from birth such as the one with the baby pig, because very young organisms do not have a memory so they cannot remember the pain), and the fact that cancerous cows are deemed safe to eat. Otherwise, it's fine, although certain things need to be changed about their handling and sanitation. (I wouldn't want to be eating a pig that's reabsorbed most of the crap by dying on a mound of the waste it excreted when it was transported.)
Not like I'm saying that it's ethical, but... lets say people are put into roles, just like the one in Zimbardo's experiments with the prison workers. When everyone is suffering, they don't feel like they're suffering as much because they've pretty much accepted that it is their role in life. The same should apply to the animals, and lessen their "suffering", which is suffering but not really, because the animals have nothing higher to look up to, so they've pretty much assumed that they're living in the best conditions possible.
