About Google Chrome's Incognito Mode
#1
What will it protect you from? Will it protect you from getting tracking cookies, keyloggers, and stuff like that?

As far as I know, all it does is not save page-visit information in history nor send it to Google for mysterious purposes. You still get cookies.

Hmm...

This is what it says when you open incognito mode:

Google Chrome Wrote:You've gone incognito. Pages you view in this window won't appear in your browser history or search history, and they won't leave other traces, like cookies, on your computer after you close the incognito window. Any files you download or bookmarks you create will be preserved, however.

Going incognito doesn't affect the behavior of other people, servers, or software. Be wary of:
  • Websites that collect or share information about you
  • Internet service providers or employers that track the pages you visit
  • Malicious software that tracks your keystrokes in exchange for free smileys
  • Surveillance by secret agents
  • People standing behind you

So you don't keep the cookies. However, I'm wondering about the third item on the list. Does it mean you don't get keyloggers only if you don't download things?

Incognito mode gives higher security than normal mode but it's still no replacement for common sense

True. It might protect you against some, no way it's 100%

It's basically for looking at porn if you don't want your parents to find it in your history/cookies. =P
