Worthyness Wrote:naturally occurring six pack: eat when you're hungry, but don't over eat. Eat food that is deemed healthy in small doses. hence me eating every 2 hours on the dot.

To get muscle weight either do exercise or swim like me Big Grin

Also do lots of cardio. Cardio helps immensely.

as far as just losing fat goes, ^ this.

I'll need to use a calculator or something to figure out my % body fat and then work accordingly to that. Already found plenty calculators for this via google searching.

wtp LOL. You're skinny as pineapple. Or maybe not skinny, but fucking light.

Also at what FrozenNight or however you spell his name said, I completely disagree when you said to eat a good breakfast, wait 30 minutes, and then work out/job.

You should work out before eating to ensure you burn actual body fat instead of just the food you ate before.

AKA: Work out early in the morning, then eat.

if you're trying to get a six pack, make sure you do a lot of lower ab exercises. a lot of people do ab workouts that focus more on your core and end up getting a four pack (the top 4 ab muscles).

for a while, i was doing the ab ripper x workout from p90x and that definitely helped a lot. it's intense as pineapple. and if you have a pull up bar, get ab straps. they help with the lower abs a lot.

Whoops. If I said that my mistake; OB3LlSK is right. You want to work out before you eat, as frequently as you can, but my point was along the lines of purposely not eating and instead working out - the way such behavior sounds is borderline eating disorder. But so long as you're eating after a workout that's fine.

Yeah, just in case it hasn't been completely clear -

You don't get a visible 6-pack by losing fat. You get it by building muscle.

I've been down to the range of 3-4% body fat, and never had defined abs. How come? Cause I'm just skinny, there's no muscle definition to reveal. Obviously I can see and feel my abs, but they don't have the 6-pack shape cause they're much too lean.

It takes a while to build muscle if you're skinny - if you put on some weight, your body has the spare energy to devote to muscle growth. Eat more, work out more, then you get somewhere.

Thanks a lot for this. I've been hearing almost the complete opposite of this lately, where people tell me I need to focus more on losing body fat and less on ab workouts.

Run/jog at least once a day if possible. Do sit-ups. About 50-100 each day depending on how dedicated you are. Take one day off during the week to rest as well. And get some protein in your system. Protein shakes are good if you find you're not eating enough protein. It will take time. It won't happen suddenly in a month. Probably at least take 2-3 months to really get where you want or some major gain. Sit ups worked for me to lose mine.

Been doing 100+ daily but imo I've been lacking consistency.

I skipped over all the comments so I apologize if anyone's said mentioned this before. When people lose weight, they don't really "lose" very many fat cells. What happens is that each individual fat cells shrinks, thus are prone to inflate again. If you are obese and really want to rid the fat for good, you should undergo liposuction surgery.

protein shakes (i like premier or myoplex) for breakfast along with like an apple. i did this when i wrestled varsity in high school and i just restarted recently; i'm cutting pretty quickly. eat a lot of almonds or like beef jerky too.

also fiber one brownies and/or clif bars, and a lot of water whenever you build up an unnecessary appetite will make you really full and give you proper nutrition.

As a side note, some musicians I know naturally have (small) 6-packs, because we work our diaphragm quite a bit. I'm an oboe player, and even though the amount of air I use is very little, the amount of force I need to blow my air very quickly through that reed (less than 0.5mm by 5mm in an oval shape of sorts) is tremendous (you can do the math for the air velocity - frequency relationship). That built up my little abs, as did some of my friends who aren't plump.

Therefore, the way to getting those packs is - work them out, consistently, as what the others have told you. The abdominal fat will be burnt along the way so fret not.

If you want to know, I'm 1.7m and weigh approximately (been fluctuating these few months due to rather inconsistent diet) 48kg.
