Assume the rod is a meter long. After entering the portal the size has not changed. Once you soder the ends together you've basically made a meter long "circle". Case 3 would not occur as is visibly seen since the size of the stick has not changed. Instead there would be a straight stick from portal A to portal B

If portal A and portal B were to be placed further than 1 meter apart the stick would be instantly stretched in an attempt still remain connected. since this is not a stretchy material, the rod would snap at the sodered location probably, or at it's weakest point.

Case a:
The rod is still under the effects of gravity, so yes, it accelerates downwards

case b:
In an inverse of what I mentioned before case a... as the portals begin moving closer to each other, the pipe begins attempting to contract since it's ends need to be located at the orange and blue portals. The material would be compressed and ... well... i'm no aperture scientist, so I can't say what happens when the portals meet (that and I don't play portal).

case c:
