I was reading about Jolly Roger's on wikipedia, and came across an entry for one "Christopher Moody." The first paragraph states that he was "hanged," and when I read it I couldn't help but wonder if the person should have used hung instead of hanged. (here's the page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Moody )
SP, which would be the proper word to use in that instance, or does it really not matter?

Hanged is considered outdated, I believe. It is still understood and not entirely pointless. I just don't think it would be used too often.

One of my high school English teachers always said "hanged" is exclusively for hanging people, hung is for everything else.
