Nexon Wrote:Can it really be five years since Global MapleStory launched? It seems incredible, but it's really been a whole half-decade since the world was introduced to the wonders of Maple World. In that time though, not group of people has worked harder at turning MapleStory into what it is today than our faithful GMs. These are the people who toil anonymously in the treches day in and day out making Maple World a safe and fun place for everybody. For the Fifth Anniversary, we wanted to give the MapleStory GMs a chance to share some of their own special Maple memories.

"My experience with MapleStory became exciting when I found the Cash Shop. I discovered pets in MapleStory and found that I had to own all of them. I am now the proud owner of 24 pets, including a Black Dragon. That took me a long time to acquire, by the way. I also purchased countless Cash Shop Surprises to try to get a Pink Bean pet and a Weird Alien. Unfortunately I was never able get either of those. However, I’m still on a quest to own all of the pets. Maybe one day!"—GM Daliah, Senior Game Master

"The most exciting and thrilling aspect of MapleStory are the events. There’s always something different going on in-game. One day, we’ll have an army of Pink Beans bombarding the towns. The next day, we’ll have everyone screaming, "cakes!" or "pies!" There isn’t a normal day in the life of a Mapler. MapleStory isn’t just a game. It’s a place where I get to hang out and socialize—well, when I’m not hiding that is!"—GM Nimei, Game Master

[Image: 007o8-e08f762f-e03b-4e18-8531-5cbce233d4b1.JPG]

"One of the things I love about MapleStory is the pets. When I first started working here, I was so excited to get the Jr. Reaper pet! That was several years ago, and now, there are so many more pets to collect! I love their cute little faces." –GM Talia, Senior Game Master

[Image: 007o8-245f2c95-35bb-41a1-b94d-cebab3988c82.JPG]

"Out of all the memories I have had with this wonderful community, one sticks out in my mind the most. It involves all the players, the events we do for them, and watching them enjoy themselves as the tombstones rained down from the skies! Well, that has actually happened more than once now, hasn’t it?"—GM Libra, Game Master

[Image: 007o8-2973a679-68d4-4add-8acd-3948e611e7d0.JPG]

"One of my favorite things to do would have to be appearing out of nowhere for just a split second and then disappearing again. Immediately afterward, everyone around would F6 and chaos ensues as people are trying to figure out who that was. It’s an amusing game that keeps the players on their toes. It’s fun to let players know that we are there, we do exist, and in fact are not robots!"—GM Tekonos, Game Master

[Image: 007o8-bef7fb3a-4e06-4dc0-bdad-d4573460cc24.JPG]

"I have been playing MapleStory since the early days of Beta. I was there when Pan Lids sold for 400,000 mesos, when Perion channel 1 used to be THE spot, and when level 60 was considered "high level." I’ve stuck around with MapleStory for the last six years because it's fun, quirky, and relaxing for me. It was simply different from any other Massively Multiplayer Online games at the time. To this day, it's still unique" –GM Cheezpuff, Game Master

[Image: 007o8-2d12cccd-3d0e-4d8e-aa1b-e53ed9621f07.JPG]

"I play MapleStory because it's an easy game for someone who doesn't really play many computer games like me. My favorite aspect about MapleStory is the items that I can dress my characters in that are sold in the Cash Shop. Call me a girly girl, but I like how my characters can attack monsters with style. My character outfits are what makes my characters fierce. When new items are introduced in the Cash Shop, I'm the first to get them. My character has fierce style, and all the monsters know it!"—GM Diatia, Game Master

[Image: 007o8-2679f95c-7e35-4e5b-b51d-af084f2e53f4.JPG]

"My favorite MapleStory memory is a GM event called, "Will the Real GM Please Stand Up?" All the GM’s danced together as a group with our signature emote face at the end shouting "Jazz Hands!" I was personally in Amoria after our dance taking screenshots with the players, and we had our own "Jump Party." It was definitely a blast interacting with players and having fun!”—GM Maverick, Game Master

"About three years ago, there was this glitch in-game that caused newbs to be invulnerable. So my first experience in MapleStory was me happily questing on the island and players around me start shouting, "Hacker!" I was trying to figure out where the hacker was, but no matter how much I looked around, I couldn’t see one! Then I realized I wasn’t taking any damage. Whoops! To this day, I can search up my character and see the reports players left calling me a hacker! F4" —Lead GM Tiara, Customer Relations Manager

Don't GMs get free nx?

"My first experience with MapleStory was placing my information in the marquee. Before that, I had only been allowed to answer tickets. Since that incident, I've been given a promotion and a hefty raise, as well as a name change so no one knows it's me. I'm telling you all this so that I will be promoted again for 'slipping up', as Nexon is a company that greatly values incompetence." -RavenSCA, CEO.

Well-said, Raven. Well-said.

So, GMs hack?
I wonder if they know about the glitch how you can spam someones whisper. Whoops!

That is my sentiment exactly! First thing I thought was, huh no raven eh?

Edit: This is just a lie anyways, like a single GM freaking payed for any pets or crap from CS, furthermore
they straight up stole this line from basil and the likes:

LOL now that I think of it that must be raven, since he couldn't talk about his REAL favorite experience.

MapleStory Memories - FrozNlite - 2010-05-17

Good lord...I counted at least 2 spelling errors and 7 grammatical errors, and I didn't bother finishing every GM post. Aside from issues with basic English that are absolutely unacceptable for public statements made by a multi-million dollar corporation that tries to prove they're "big time," the fundamental sentence structure and flow is comprable to that of 5th graders. Ugh. Only Cheezpuff's response was well-written.

...I don't think this is as much as an official statement as much as an "attempt" to portray reminiscence of the GM's in the post.

This is in humor at best, not something to be taken seriously

The hell? They exist? I thought they were a myth or something like bigfoot.

Regardless of whether the message is supposed to be funny or serious, any public correspondence a mutli-million dollar, multi-national corporation has should be conducted with the utmost profession, which Nexon fails to do every single time. "Being funny" or "trying to connect to the lay" isn't a reason to gloss over editing. When was the last time you saw McDonalds, ABC, Nintendo, or any other large corporation, in specific instances of "funny public correspondence" "forget" to edit their message? Never. No prominent world corporation releases a public statement without proofreading it a million times to ensure it follows all rules and regulations of whatever language it is written. They do this because it's a sign of careless neglect/laziness/unprofessional conduct to communicate with your customers with poor usage of their native tongue.

I know many believe that "Nexon-bashing" is inappropriate considering the "difficulties of maintaining a perfect MMO," but keep in mind that suspicions are raised towards customer service and other issues if they can't even bother to edit their statements to the public. This is how business is done, people. Either shape up or come in last. Luckily for Nexon, they've chosen option three: design an addictive product that keeps customers coming back for more regardless of your professional conduct.

Gotta love capitalism.

Obvious attempt at appealing to older gamers so they don't think they're forgotten.

Consider:
GMs do not train, quest, merch, boss, or pq.
They are, in fact, hene hoes.

Actually there's often a lot grammatical errors and spelling errors in both press releases and written statements. In fact I go so far as to ask you to bring me 10 100% accurate in grammar and spelling statements from any "big" company.

I'm not making excuses but your making a mountain out of a molehill. I can even agree that there's a "need" for nexon bashing if they do something like gloss over a incident or turn completely away from something but this is a joke at best.

I like how most of them talk about the cash shop Rolleyes

Thing is, you'd think with the many millions that they're making, they could hire some competent proofreaders or something. I mean, hell, they could hire 10 to proofread each proofreader and still have millions to spare. You're right, many big companies have errors like this, but just cause they all have it, doesnt make it okay. When I read errors in grammar or spelling mistakes in articles or releases, it does nothing but lower my image of the company in question.

I'm not denying it's bad for anyone's image to have poor grammar in anything released for the public. I'm just saying it seems that Frozenite was overreacting to such minuscule errors, when you consider the topic ("article/news/thread made by hime/etc...") in question was nothing significant.
