Character worth - Reako - 2009-12-02 I play a class that is made fun of on a daily basis for "being a nerfed BM with no SE", and maxes out at 120, thus unable to reach the upper 150s+ and be "useful" Doesn't bother me though, I keep playin'. Wind archer is pretty cool. Although my last main was a hermit. Would you believe it though? I played him because I found it to be fun. When my WA hits 120 and finishes his stuff, I'll likely go back to him. I'm also one of those guys who will dump 40+ stat points into HP. It hasn't really hampered my playstyle any. If anything, I'll be able to solo Pap and Latanica soon. I don't see why anyone would play a class simply because it is "the best" and not because it is fun. What's the point then? Character worth - Hotshot - 2009-12-02 Beg Wrote:TL;DR: I find more worth in characters I enjoy playing, not necessarily those that can contribute the most in party situations or are "the best" at what they were designed to do. Agreed, but if you can get the two together (for example a marksman!), then you get the best of both worlds. ![]() One quick note about your attacker issues, attackers aren't an ends unto others unless you go on the run and get nothing out of it. Attackers are contributers to boss runs that are generally mutually beneficial. If you stick to it you'll meet new and interesting people, probably make some friends, and get some good equip/skillbooks/mesos for your trouble as well. Some people just really enjoy bossing, and have no issues with leeching/mass washing in order to be the best they can be at what they enjoy doing. Part of it is showing off to others as well though. Yes, because it totally matters if u gave no party buffs.(Edit: nevermind this comment, didn't read past mutually beneficial.) Edit: I love my paladin, I just hate it when people think I suck BECAUSE I'm a paladin and only that. Character worth - Hotshot - 2009-12-02 XBish Wrote:i loled The truth is a funny thing, you know.

My belt is only 7 atk hammered if you feel better. I only washed about 120 times :xI overpot too much on my corsair too. I use ales which means I should be healing only when I have only 1.7k hp left. But I heal when I have 4k alot. You have two level 200 magicians which I totally do want. Just so I can say, look, "I have two 200s." Character worth - Punch - 2009-12-02 Untrue. Permanent Beginners ARE party unfriendly.. true fact. Yes dammit, they are a class! Character worth - Dual - 2009-12-02 Paladins are pretty damn party unfriendly, considering we have no buffs that the group can use besides Threaten and MW, which we don't have until a very high level simply because of the assload of skills we need. Hell, we even get the least benefit out of SE, since we only hit once compared to everyone's 3+. That being said, I love my Paladin. Never going to have another main. <3 Character worth - Beaner - 2009-12-02 Hotshot Wrote:The truth is a funny thing, you know. i know right
Character worth - ImagineAll - 2009-12-03 Dusk Wrote:Does auto HP not work? I mean really, if you want to wash to the point where you can tank 2 hits, you're doing it wrong. You only ever need to be able to take one hit. If you really can't pot yourself, auto HP should take care of it. I don't know why you'd want to be able to watch TV while training. That sounds incredibly boring, and you're definitely playing the wrong class. Why not make a Hero or NL or BM? It's not like Corsairs are any good if you can't manage the ship, anyway. You have to understand the group of players that we play with. They're arguably the strongest players in our server, and the feelings of inadequacy while bossing amongst them and doing less than half of the damage they're dealing is not a good feeling. The desire to keep up in DPS is an on going challenge and is a big part of the game for many players. Who's to judge how someone else plays the game as long as it is in accordance to the rules of the game? The HP isn't only for training either. It's beneficial at PB and starting on the left at HT. I disagree with people saying HP washing isn't necessary, yada yada. It's beneficial and makes things a lot easier. Being able to tank a hit from Ariel and not having to waste time avoiding and/or getting rez'd is a significant increase in DPS. Try fighting PB itself as a warrior without being extensively washed. Character worth - Dual - 2009-12-03 I agree. I like washing, and I'm a Warrior. My 13k HP just means I can now deal with the a-holes who try to KS your BF by rushing it into you. PB = lolwashornoPB4u The rest = not the above While it is true that no one's gameplay is to be judged, how do you explain certain (not rare) cases like Molly above who never even sparked the idea that the game doesn't restrict you from clicking the HP up arrow without having an AP reset? It's not just some people that crave competition with others, that's more or less the general mentality in every Mapler's mind since the beginning of time. While this may have stemmed from their competitive nature in real life, in the US society, in whatever factor I'm not aware of, this much is true. Of course, there are a few minorities who don't, or at least not to such an extent, but if you could name 5 or more friends of yours who belong to that minority group, I'd be damned. Character worth - ImagineAll - 2009-12-03 Character worth - Dual - 2009-12-03 The only reason I wash stems from the fact that I only lose 4 MP and I get 5x HP every point. I don't even have to wash it out, I just choose to, because I do it when its cheap and available. I don't even care that I'm losing 15 STR right now, since I've got 13k HP with equips. Character worth - Kalovale - 2009-12-03 ImagineAll Wrote:The fact of the matter is, blood builds are looked down upon because of the loss of damage. No one who is "super serious" about bossing is going to be willing to substitute that much of an increase in their damage range to take a hit (I'm referring to PB and any other boss that takes massive amounts of washing or bleeding to survive).Blood builds are looked down upon because HP-wash is available. (1)Win-win situation with a lot of a money cost > (2)not being able to afford (1) and go QQing > (3)sacrificing and balancing your character with innate means. The point is, there are means in-game to overcome difficulties posed in-game, you don't have to rely on an outside effect such as AP resets (not sure if kMS has these, maybe yes since they have SP resets) and exploitation of the system (sacrifice MP for HP, oh really, is it really a sacrifice?) I'm not saying it's wrong, but it's obviously the optimal choice for many people, too many people that it's perverted into a sad thing to see. It's also apparent that "super serious" people have to HP-wash, period. But the question is must everyone put that burden on themselves? There is the concept of bossing for fun and challenge, there is the concept of professionally bossing for profits. Why must everyone and their mom think they HAVE TO Hp-wash to boss efficiently? Perhaps I am the elitist here but I believe everyone should be able to know what they want and how they should go about it. I gave up 50 STR for HP when my Zerk HP was 30%, now it's 50%, way to overkill, but I don't regret it. If one day I can buy NX and be cool like Eos to say "it doesn't in any way affect my daily life", sure I'll wash, but I don't go out of my way to HAVE TO wash, or peach at life for being unable to wash. Character worth - xLeviathan - 2009-12-03 You can "wash" without buying resets or blood building HP? o.o Character worth - Cyanne - 2009-12-03 Character worth - ImagineAll - 2009-12-03 It goes both ways. And if you're dead at PB that damage you gained by upgrading your gear costs you more DPS than you gained in gear. It's fair (maybe not exact) to say that the limbs of the body at HT take up a good 1/3 of the fight. Which when you kill it on a multi-weekly basis speed and efficiency are definitely important when you're trying to make the experience as non-mundane as possible. I guess my opinion is derived from someone who spends a lot their Maple-ing on bossing. Someone who plays the game differently is bound to have a different opinion that I do. Do I look down on them or think they're wrong? No. That's how they choose to play the game and if they're having fun, well good for them
Character worth - Stereo - 2009-12-03 Cyanne Wrote:saying that you don't lose damage by hp washing isn't really accurate. AP reset sales lower that though. That's pretty much why I washed 20 luk with the 20 dollar reset sale, but had them in HP before that. Extra HP is useful - but spending 600m mesos for 20 luk? Not a good deal for me. It probably is a good deal for some people, but I'm looking at gear upgrades right now and I could easily push the equivalent in w.atk (4 atk) without spending that much. 200mil on the other hand, a lot more reasonable. If having extra HP is mandatory, add the points. All you're losing by refusing to do so is the ability to play the game... if my NL ever makes it to 15x, I'll be going another round of AP into HP so I can survive HT a little earlier without hiding in corners. I may reset it, or I may not... depends how easily I can get NX and what other upgrades I can get. |
