It counts.

When I was like, 7, with my cousin, we would sit down, close our eyes and think of a random color then just shout out "WAS YOUR COLOR BLUE?!". Sometimes it worked, random luck though, I think. We must've looked retarded sitting there screaming colors at each other. Sometimes I can predict what people are going to say, just because I know them so well. (Whoops, just because is banned.)

I do believe in mental abilities, somewhat. It seems possible. I just haven't seen any proof.

I don't think those are really 'mental abilities' (like the ability to get a bad feeling, or whatever), as compared to telekenisis, teleportation, etc. I just think those are perks of having a human mind. If you read Blink: The power of thinking without thinking by Malcolm Gladwell, it's just the way your subconsciousness works. It's just stronger in some people than in others.

Wow, I have a power too. I can predict that this thread's going no where.

Mental abilities don't exist:

The déjà-vu stuff and eye-blinking are just tricks your mind play with your conciousness.

Sensing stuff is just coincidence. You probably have a "feeling" all the time, but you forget it, unless something does happen. It's like playing poker: Every time you think "pocket aces pocket aces pocket aces" and when you get it it's like "YES! I knew it!". Problem is you ALWAYS "concentrate" to get something good.

"People use only x% of their brain" must have the part "at a time" behind it. You use different parts for different tasks.

Evolution giving us powers: People that believe that should take a class in pysics IMO. Evolution makes our eyesight better (or worse), or maybe we'll have 6 fingers in a 1000 years, but I'm pretty sure levitation & precognition by will still be impossible.

Like someone said: There hasn't been a single proven case of a person having an ability. Pretty much QED...

Close this thread. Too many people are overnaive and narrow minded.

If you were talking about me: I'm naïve because I don't believe something without at least some proof? Isn't the definition of naïve the opposite of that?

And ah the eternal narrow-minded-argument. Do you believe in aliens? Conspiracy theories? Fairies? Because if you don't you're narrow-minded too. There are so many similarities bethween those (xept the fairies maybe xD) and mental abilities, so if you believe in one you should also in the others.

Depends. I base myself on that due to logic and past experience. That is, I tend to end the teacher's sentences whenever they stop to think.

Narrow minded and naive? Are you serious? When I made arguments in this thread, I would go and watch the videos posted. Hell, I would even look at some myself. After watching them, I still didn't believe in these "powers" of yours because the videos provided no proof, and could in fact be generally dis proven. I spent a whole hour watching PSI wheel videos and finding out how they were really done. You're saying people that don't agree with you are wrong. I don't believe aliens have ever visited the earth; does that make me close minded too?

My point throughout this entire thread is that mental abilities don't exist on a natural level. If they do exist, then they're the same thing as ghosts: supernatural. This thread should be closed, not because any body's being narrow minded and naive, but because it's getting pretty close to the level of flame war.
