Hard Mode isn't really different in 1.2 unless you go for the revamped stuff like Dungeon / Jungle / etc.

I set up teleporters in the SP server
Left from the base goes through the snow biome, right goes all the way to the jungle biome (through the crimson and corruption biomes). It cost me like 2 platinum, but it gave me something to do

Glad hardmode dungeon mobs don't spawn until after Plantera that way you can't just skip straight to absolute end-game as soon as you start hardmode.

Beat up the Brain of Cthulu (I prefer EoW I think more, but it was fun), mined one meteor, had two more meteors fall, and built my basic afk fishing/shark fin farming house. Raiding the Dungeon is next on the to-do list I think after mining those other two meteors for ammo.

I did Brain of Cthulu inside of a tight cavern my first time...he was far less enjoyable than EoW was in my opinion.

Anything that can pierce will absolutely wreck the Brain of Cthulhu; Unholy Arrows, Water Scepter, Water Bolt, etc. You hit all his little noodle rings, then his brain is taken down easily as well especially with decent knockback like Unholy Arrows that'll multi-hit and keep him from getting too close to you.
