MapleStory 2, welcome. - Endgame - 2014-05-26 Male characters?! OH MY GOD THEY DO EXIST! MapleStory 2, welcome. - SaptaZapta - 2014-05-26 Endgame Wrote:Male characters?! Nah, those must be monsters. MapleStory 2, welcome. - Ryukiroku - 2014-05-27 Finally watched the gameplay video after coming back from vacation. I really like the isometric style platformer that they're going for even if it is a bit blockier than what I was expecting. I really do hope they capitalize on the platforming a bit more than MS1 but this game feels like a logical next step in the series without compromising too many of the core mechanics that made us love the first one. Speaking of the platforming, am i the only one that dislikes the forced jump every time you move from one block to another that isn't on the same plane? Is it really so hard to just have the character fall? It just makes it feel so much slower than it could be especially in the case of the second segment where you have those blocks moving up and down for the bridge. The dash doesn't really help either... I mean they look crisp as fawk as if they were characters from a new anime series, yet the world looks like crap with all its resources invested into making pretty HD cubes. If you look closely, the player fell off the first step just fine, and for whatever reason decided to jump the rest. Just take a moment to compare the Maplestory1 Character Art and the in game sprites themselves m8 MapleStory 2, welcome. - Arrol - 2014-05-28 PoetryIsFail Wrote:Just take a moment to compare the Maplestory1 Character Art and the in game sprites themselves m8 The MS1 character artwork looked more appealing in sprite form than MS2 character art and what we have now. MapleStory 2, welcome. - Rosa - 2014-05-28 Looks interesting. I'm definitely looking forward to it though tbh I'm not really sure how I feel about the 3D aspect of it. Looks like I'll just have to wait and see! MapleStory 2, welcome. - Spiral - 2014-05-28 Don't know how I really feel about MS2. I'm definitely intrigued but I'd hate to say them eliminate MS1. At first I was hesitant when seeing screen shots of the Legoesque blocks on maps but it actually looks okay with the gameplay video. Still, I'm going to miss all the artwork that make MS1 so appealing and wish they would have incorporated some of that at least in the background. It's clear where they want to head with this and it looks more like a console game than a computer game (a la Sunshine Mario or whatever it was called for the Wii). As far as the free2play video - some good pomegranate right there. Nexon could do with hiring those guys. As an FYI, you're thinking of Mario Galaxy. Now that we've seen a gameplay video, I don't see any reason both MS1 and MS2 can't thrive together, al la Ragnarok Online. Granted, Ragnarok Online 2 is terrible, but that's not really the point. MS1 can still get updates, as long as Nexon still gets money for it, and considering how much people have dumped into it at this point they probably won't be losing their userbase any time soon because of [I forget the name, but it's the mental thought that since you've already paid for something, you'd mind as well keep using it even if you don't like it]. They can be separate games, in the same vein, and both survive. Spiral Wrote:As far as the free2play video - some good pomegranate right there. Nexon could do with hiring those guys. The reason why I initially didn't even respond to the free2play video myself is that no matter how good of an idea it is, I doubt any current company that is doing it wrong is going to just change their ways because some random guys (regardless of popularity) made a decent point on a video (if the company even saw it as a decent point). We can hope aspiring developers see it and think it's a good point, but really that's about it. What's the saying…you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Some variation of that would work. Maybe MS2 will have better luck (I doubt it). MapleStory 2, welcome. - DeanNim - 2014-05-30 Im kinda just upset because I know for a fact that skills can never be as pretty as they are in MS1.. MapleStory 2, welcome. - Coogi - 2014-05-30 Maybe this is why they scrapped BlockParty, it's gonna be for MapleStory 2. I only say because of the word "block" though lol.
